What I really liked was the fact that after you called a dealer halfway across the country and lied to verify another mans claims, you said you would respect his privacy.
Please leave the twisting of what i said to the elite members. they have a lot of time on their hands and are much more experienced at it.

and yes, beyond the real reasons for the delay, i don't have any further interest in jasperab or his brand bashing story.

Everyone needs to settle down or the thread will get locked. All we need to do now is wait until Jasper tells us what the resolution is.

GUESS WHAT?

I went by my dealer around noon today and Mahindra had just called. They are going to provide a new short block and I will have to cover the labor. Paperwork has to be forwarded and signed so it will not happen soon, but at least thing are moving.
Many thanks to all the people who have taken an interest in this situation and offered comments and help.
My dealer is going to work out payments for me and hopefully in a few weeks I will have a running tractor again.
Thank you Mahindra for caring enough about your product to help.

I will follow up with progress as it happens.

This is great news. I was initially concerned about the cost of the labor, but it sounds like you really do have a great dealer that is trying to help you out. I am sure you will get things worked out. It's great to know you will finally be able to put all this to rest.:)

Even though Mahindra didn't act in a timely manner that suited some here, sounds like they went above and beyond by helping Jasper even though the warranty had expired, good for them, they didn't have to do anything to help.

I hadn't looked at this thread in a while. Wow, it's a little ugly.

I had a laptop giving me some issues at about 9 months and I didn't call or do anything about it until it had a major failure at 13 months. I called, I was out of luck. My fault for not acting in the warranty period. My 2006 GMC has the fancy dual zone climate control. Every once in a while, the left side goes nuts and blows really hot air while the right side blows cold. Happens about once a month and started while under warranty. I slacked and didn't get it in to GMC in time, now it is my problem. My bad on both. I may ask the GMC dealership to try to cover it, but if they don't, how can I demand that they do? A warranty is a contract of sorts. You could see the issues if we could all just go in and tell a company that the problem really happened during the warranty period so they should believe us and cover it. If everyone was 100% honest, and the OP probably is a very honest man, then this would work, but in our world, this is often not the case.

Should Mahindra cover this? Maybe a goodwill sort of thing? Maybe. That is their call. If it is clearly a manufacturing defect it would be a good call to help with the repair. If it has been overheated, hydro-locked, has contaiminated oil, etc., then I'm not sure any help is due. We don't know all the facts. We do know that good or bad, they need to communicate quickly. Make a decision. Bad news is often better than no news and waiting.

To those who say "I'll never buy a Mahindra because they won't cover a failure out of warranty", I don't quite understand that position and I wish you felt otherwise. At our dealership and the dealerships of the Mahindra dealers that are regulars here at TBN, you wouldn't be waiting more than a few days for some decision.

By the way, we have sold a lot of Mahindras and we have never seen a rod cap failure. If there was an issue with them at some point, we have never seen it.

To the OP, we are sorry to see you having this problem. I hope it gets resolved soon.

Pretty much what I thought the outcome would be... Your dealer sounds like a good one. Good luck Jasper.

I'm so slow at typing, it resolved while I was typing my last post. Good news.

Excellent news! Thanks for the update.
I think they and his dealer are doing the right thing and in the end, will be beneficial for both. I hope jasperab recommends them to others.

Still waiting for Mahindra to get back with my dealer, he is going to call them-again.

Just read this thread. I am glad I waited until now 'cause I wouldn't have been able to get anything else done while following it as it unfolded.

Jasper, It sounds like things are going to work out as well as you could have hoped.

Things break, face it. For a company to sell a product then stand behind it just makes sense.

Good luck with the rest of your adventure and I hope you are getting some seat time on the Mahindra soon.

Checked back with my dealer last thursday, still no response from Mahindra. They are calling back, for the fourth time, to follow up.

New short block has arrived and is in the shop now. Hope to have it finished this week or next.
Heads, injectors, and top end looked good. Just the rod caps bad. Must have been a Monday or Friday assembly! Recovering from the weekend or looking forward to it and didn't torque them down.
Sure did need it this week, road into the house looked like a streambed after all the rain we had. Old Massey fixed it up though, sure glad I kept that old tractor.

The nightmare continues! The "complete" gasket set was not complete, the short block is different from the original. My dealer has had to order new hoses and gaskets since some components are located in different areas on this block, and not all the gaskets are included.
Makes me wonder if this is the new version of the engine.
Brautigam's are doing their best, and I appreciate all they have gone through trying to help me.
Would I buy another Mahindra?
NO COMMENT as yet!

This thread should have been closed long ago with the personal attacks and quarrels that are not allowed on TBN if they are seen by any of the moderators but obviously we do not have time to read all the threads. And of course this one should never have even been started since it's a duplicate of one in another forum.
