2014 Mahindra 3016HST
I will be buying a new tractor by Fall. I really want a Mahindra, I've checked them out and the xxxx 3016 is the one I'm leaning towards.

Today I went to my local Kubota dealer and got a price for a B3300, with loader, hoe, ballast box and canopy... $24,800.

Guess what the price for the Mahindra 3010, with loader, hoe, no ballast box and no canopy was. You guessed it...the same.

I always thought that Mahindra had a big price advantage over the 'big 2'.

Are these prices anomalies or have Mahindra's prices gotten closer to the 'leaders'?

Can't help much with the prices but I would go to every brand dealer in your area and check them all out and get prices. Pick your top three favorites and then build them online and subtract 10-15%. If you try them all you might find a favorite you didn't know about.

When I was recently shopping for a new machine it seemed that the prices on the Mahindra were right up there with the corresponding Kabota. Some dealers even started at a higher price. The best bang for the buck seemed to be with Kioti, LS and TYM. I went with Kioti and so far am very pleased.

Maybe I am missing it but I didn't see a 3010 listed on mahindras site?? Perhaps you were talking about a 3016?? And if so, its a bit bigger and heavier machine with higher lift capacities.

I put 400+ hours on a B3300SU before buying my current Kubota L3560. The B3300SU is a well balanced unit, front to rear. I did not buy a Ballast Box for FEL load counterbalance. I bought a 60", 630 pound Rollover Box Blade and a 60", 700 pound Cultipacker to use as counterbalances. Both are implements I knew I would use regularly. The Cultipacker is compact. The 630 pound - 700 pound weight range is just right considering the B3300SU FEL lift capacity. (I had R4 tires)

What LD1 said... compare the capabilities of the machines and not just the price. I found the Mahindras to be "beefier" than the Kubotas and JDs, at least in the smaller sizes. I suspect that Kubota and JD have had to come down in price to match Mahindra and not lose market share. The brand new eMax machines were introduced at lower price levels than the Max lines, supposedly to compete better with the small Kubs and JDs. Perhaps the Tier IV compliance has some effect too. So who really knows what's going on?

It seems to me that most times whenever any product is trying to reach a certain sales level, the price is lower than the competition. But when they reach that level the price goes up to near or at the competitor's level.

Check the Japanese and Korean cars. When they we first introduced here, they were a real bargain, price wise. Now they're the same or more than American products.

This practice seems to follow about every new product.

Mahindra's sales went up 40% last year and now they're the number three seller in the US. I read this in the news on this forum. I hope they didn't follow the car example I cited, and that JD and Kubota did drop their prices, but I kinda doubt it.

I still like the looks of the Mahindra over the others but I was disappointed to see the pricing so close after reading what a bargain it was.

I think your analysis is correct. I believe Mahindra has raised their prices the the last couple of years, I don't think Kubota and JD have lowered theirs. The bargain tractors right now are Kioti, LS and TYM. Of course there are regional differences, and of course you could have a dealer that needs a trip to the Bahama's.

Not always true.

Kubota makes a 30hp tractor smaller, about the same size, and one bigger than the mahindra.

The B3200/3300 is smaller. The L3200 is about the same. ANd the L3240 is bigger.
