Mahindra 2810 4WD
We have a Mahindra 2810 bought new in 2004 along with the loader and mower. We love it! It has about 550 hours on it so far. WE have kept up all the maintenance: oil changes, filters, new hydraulic hoses, etc., as scheduled or needed. Recently we noticed it is getting difficult to use the shuttle shift lever. It is so stiff my wife can no longer use it, and the last time I used it (moving snow last week) it finally would not shift into reverse. I finally managed to get it parked in the barn but cannot move it now. Our dealer moved out of the area so now it is well over a 100 mile trip to see one. Has anyone an idea what is wrong? I have the Operator's Manual and Service Manual but can't find this issue addressed in either book.

My first thought would be to lubricate all of the linkage points.

Does it have a shuttle shift cable? If so I'll bet the cable is dry/dirty.

not sure where or if there are linkage points for the shuttle shift lever on this tractor.. The books do not mention that part when they refer to places to lubricate or linkage points. Could it be a cable behind the panel? It would be very time-consuming and difficult to take the panel off.

I was wondering whether it has a cable. The information in the books is so incomplete, we don't know. If it does, how do we access it?? Nothing in the books to indicate whether it is even existent.

Want to thank you for the good suggestions for my shuttle shift problem. we found a rusty/dry joint on the shaft and used WD-40 to lubricate it. Then made an adjustment on the cable. It works fine now. Good to have our tractor back! Thanks again and merry Christmas!

Thanks for this post.

I have the exact same problem. You have time to write a description and post some images of how you got to this rusty/dry joint?

Very excited that this might be a simple fix for me as well!
