Mahindra Owners? Anyone???

My clutch problem was caused by poor enginiring and abuse. If you have ever been into the clutch on a 4110 you would notice the bolt holding the clutch arms on have 2 holes drilled through them for a cotter pin leaving very little of the bolt to hold the nut on. The end of the bolt with the nut in it broke off. And I didnt buy the tractor to drive around the feilds in I bought it to use. And what I use it for used to be done by an old MF 35 and it never left me sitting. It was just not strong enough. There are many things that I like about my tractor, but reliability isnt one of them. On a farm that you are trying to support a family with, reliability means a lot. The only reason I got a mahindra vs kubota is that no one warned me of them, and it was cheaper.

You knowingly abused it?

That would definitely be a defect. Did your dealer fix it in a timely manner?

Can you give us more detail about the 4x4 problem, overheating issue and the 3pt problem?

I did as well, I assure you.

That depends on your definition of abuse. I have slipped the clutch to get my chicken house caking machine unstuck and other such things but not anything I didnt do to the old MF that was two wheel drive and to high geared. Now I dont want to rant about this but I think that it is important that someone looking at this site to help them to make a decision about buying a tractor can hear both sides. The dealer that I bought the tractor from quit dealing with mahindra because getting parts was very hard. So I have done all repairs. the 4x4 problem was a bad bearing. the heating problem is from the radiator fins to close together. This doesnt allow feathers or grass seed to pass through. And it doesnt take very much to plug it up. Maybe I expect to much but if you are going to compare it to other tractors it should comparitivly perform. This is actually the second one I have had the dealer bought back the first one.

Did your radiator come with a removable debris screen in front of it? mine did and it should catch most of the stuff that prevents air flow.
Its too bad you've had problems but, they don't seem typical of the Mahindra/TYM 10 series. Dealers seem to think highly of them.

As the owner of a still running 2004 4110, I'm always interested in hearing the experience of others... the good, the bad and the ugly... from both new members and old... with profiles and without... typical and atypical... with causes and helpful solutions... or even about plain old-fashioned lemons that had to be bought back by the dealer. All information is digested, processed and acted on accordingly.

Lately, it sounds like I am one of the very few (and apparently very lucky) temporarily satisfied owners... who should obviously recognize that my luck cannot last forever and that I should get out fast (and get myself a Kubota) while the getting is still good!

Dougster. Are your hrs current at 130. I am beginning to think that Mahindra assembly processes result in quite a bit of product variability. Consequently, there may be an above average risk to those who do not exercise their tractor firmly, to sort out infant mortality, during the warranty period.

Hi Larry - Nope... above 130 now (although not home right now to give you a current reading).

While I bought used, the previous owner reported no warranty issues and the selling dealer has confirmed that. Maybe I have just been lucky so far... but at 25 months in service all is still well (knock on wood! :) ).

Yes my tractor has the screen. I am well practiced at cleaning it. But I believe that the real problem is that the radiator is only marginaly able to cool the engine and even slight obstructions cause over heating. As I have said, there are many things I like about my 4110. Good power, exellent features that arent available on more expensive tractors, and it appears to be solidly built but it seems like it needed a year or two to work out the bugs.Every one of those bugs has cost me time and money.
Any good salesman thinks his is the superior product. If he didnt believe it customers wouldnt believe him.

Add another to the "very few satisfied owners" club, I have a 2002 ,4110 , 600 + hrs. and still going (energizer bunny) strong :D

once I was brush hogging a twenty acre field, in August, first cut of the year for this field, grass up to the headlights, heavy seed was constantly clogging the screen. Tractor was running real hot. I grabbed a roll of flexible alluminum screening, started from the top of the radiator, over the air intake,
down to the bottom of the radiator, shaping 4 + inch box in front of the original screen, front of screen would catch the seeds but there was enough
air entering the sides of this box, to cool the tractor, I also poped off the side engine panels and worked without them the rest of the day. After finishing this job, removed the screen, side panels back on, everything back to normal, worked for me. Don't know how to help with the clutch, hope I don't have that problem for a long time, good luck hope I helped
