Gear oil SAE grades are not similar to motor oil grades. For example the Castrol UTF, Shell Rotella HD and Delvac Hydraulic fluids are GL-4 fluids rated at @80W to 85W grades but in motor oil equivalent terms these are multigrade @10W-30 rated oils. There are cautions regarding usage for these UTF's; for example, these are not supposed to be used in hypoid gear applications.
In summary, I believe the Castrol UTF will be suitable for the OP's Mahindra based on requirement stated in the original post. So will the Shell, Delvac and Chevron 1000 THF fluids. Separately, there are low viscosity fluids in use by various manufacturers. I recommend speaking with Mahindra Tech Support to determine whether the factory fill was low viscosity. If so, you could source a low viscosity fluid such as Hygard low viscosity. Some leads anyway.
