Since it has been a while since the last post here, I thought I'd let everyone know that a large Mahindra discussion is taking place over on "Buying/Pricing". /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ken . While it started out as a decent discussion on Mahindra , It got ugly fairly quickly . Too bad , as it had the makings of an informative thread to those looking to buy a Mahindra .

I think that if the original question had been posted here - or moved here by a moderator - it would not have degenerated like it did.

It did get ugly but, I think it ended up showing more about the posters than the product.

There have been other discussions about other products with the same results. Not much new here, but it can be a little amusing at times.

It reminds me of my typical day teaching 7th graders in my junior high classroom!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Interesting that it was a moderator, "Cowboydoc", that fanned the flames. His content was, in my opinion, inaccurate and his manner came across inflammatory. People are slow to learn that it is not just what you say, but how you say it.

I always look at it like this, tractors are like shoes, not one shoe fits everyone, just like one brand of tractor doesn't fit everyone. Thats why many dealers carry a couple brands of tractors. Both are good brands but some just fit people better. Every tractor has benefits and drawbacks no matter what brand, some lift higher, some weigh more, some have other features that others don't. This doesn't necessarily make one any better than the other, although some brands are better than others. You just have to weigh the benefits and features to your wants and needs when buying a tractor and good dealer support is also key to a good tractor.

Speaking of one size doesn't fit all, Has anyone had any experimentation with RAISING their Mahindra tractor seat?? If I were about 2" taller, I could see my FEL bucket. Since I can't get any taller, maybe the seat could be raised??? Hmm.

Im not sure on Mahindra tractors, but on our Kiotis we have had some customers unbolt the seats and install a spacer block. One guy used some scrap 2x4's, even looked pretty good when he was done.

Jon, You are dead on. Different tractor features and attributes appeal to different people. A deficiency to one person may not be a big deal or even a problem to another if the price is low. I've heard that point made in favor of the Chinese tractors. I'll be the first to admit practically no knowledge of the offerings from China since nobody I know of nearby sells them. We just got a Mahindra dealer in Louisville and my take on them is they look pretty good. The larger Mahindra built units look solid. Some of them look dated but I've said before I doubt that impairs their ability to get the job done. The mid size TYM built CUTs have a nice open operator's station and I like the independent PTO. I've looked at and considered the 2015 HST which is Mitsu built along with the 2615. I've been pretty much set on the Kioti CK20 HST but haven't puchased anything yet. I've also looked at the JD4110 HST and my local dealer has indicated he'd be interested in dealing. I don't think I can get the JD as low as either of the other two but there are definitely good points to the JD. From a top name brand to a just becoming well established brand to a relative newcomer I see merit in all of them and a difficult decision. I read some of the posts on the Mahindra discussion in the other
forum and it brought to mind the old saying, "one man's trash is another's treasure."
