Im about to pull the trigger on a new Mahindra 4035 PST with FEL. Im still undecided if I should get the backhoe for it. Ive been doing some searching to find a compared backhoe attachment from another brand besides what Mahindra has to offer and haven't found much.

Im replacing my 1967 JD300 industrial backhoe, so obviously the new Mahindra hoe will never compare to the John Deere. I still want to get something thats close to it.

What you guys think?

I'm in the same boat with a 4025 that I already own....a Mahindra hoe was almost X2 what off brand/ aftermarket ones are....that's a lot of $$$$

You have to decide whether getting a BH that is designed for the tractor is worth not having to guess what might fit and then scabbing them together.
I'd go with the Mahindra, especially if you're going to finance it all.
Just my $.02 anyway...

See if the dealer will do a deal, you never know...

From what I've read on these forums, it is always cheaper to buy the backhoe at the time of purchasing the tractor. I'm not sure why this is, but I've seen differences in price of over 1K when waiting until later.

Thanks for the input guys. The last thing I want to do is to fabricate a backhoe attachment and hope it works out lolol.

Im still toying around with keeping my current tractor for mainly digging purposes. As long as its not used every day, not too many things go wrong lol. Then again, if the tractor sits for a while, that won't be good either. Lately though, it seems like every time I use the tractor, something breaks. What do you expect though for a 1967??? She's been good to me and has surved its purpose. I just want something that I can get on a go.

My gut feeling says to get the backhoe now....down the road, I don't see myself dropping $10000 on an attachment. I only see me kicking myself in the *** for not getting it now. Ive got a good idea what the setup will cost, just have to see and work the numbers. We shale see what happens tomorrow!

Like I said, if you're gonna finance it anyway, the BH will only add a few bucks a month to the loan.
Having said all that, I went looking for a Mahindra, and ended up getting a Branson, with a FEL and a BH, for a whole lot less...

Put a 509 on my 03 3510 last year out the door for 8K. I looked at all the aftermarket and other than the Mahindra (Bradco) I could only get a subframe with a Woods. I would only saved about $800 and would have had to mount the subframe and hook up all the hydraulics. Dealer did everything and even replaced the boom cylinder under warranty after 30 days with no delay. Some metal scarred up the piston and O-rings causing it not to hold up.

Go with your dealer for service and warranty.

Well, after getting a few more prices today, I've decided not to get he backhoe. Im looking at $35000 to $36000 for the FEL and BH. Thats puts me wayyyyy over my budget. I will just keep my old backhoe for any of my digging needs. It may be old(1967) but it runs decent and is paid for lol. For the extra that this hoe attachment would cost, I could buy a early 1990's backhoe.

Instead of the backhoe attachment, I will be purchasing a 5' bush hog and 7' york rake(both Land Pride). I have plenty of uses for both those attachments.

ktoom, it sounds like you made a wise decision. I'd love to have a york rake. My 5' BushHog squealer has been rock solid over the last nine years.
