I'm desperate for help. I have a 2003 Mahindra 5500 that won't start. I've had the battery checked & it is good. Starter checked & it is good. Replaced the Solenoid on the starter and still nothing. I think this has to be something simple like a safety switch or the ignition switch. I don't know where all of the safety switches are located on my tractor. Can someone point me in the right direction? I know that there is one on the PTO clutch & I've made sure that there is contact on it when I try to crank it but still nothing. I can start it with a screwdriver crossing over the starter terminals. Should I try replacing the ignition switch? I am open to all suggestions.:mur:

Most likely a safety switch. The transmission switch is located under the right floorboard and the wires can be pulled loose fairly easily if you get out in brushy areas. The pto switch is located right behind the left floorboard and has a screw ajustment to make it contact the button on the switch. Need to check the ajustment and the wires on the switch. Tie the wires together to check if its the switch on the pto cause they did tend to fail.

I had trouble getting my 5525 started a few months ago. Traced the problem to dirt accumulated in the key switch that prevented the key from being inserted far enough to get the starter going. Used WD40 spray and worked the key around until it fit properly. Problem solved.
