It's about an 02-03. Had water in fuel in June. Got over that. In Sept started dying out again. Checked fuel filter, looked dirty. Pulled out and couldn't find new one. Soooo, I'm a pretty smart guy, I rinsed the old one out with diesel fuel, shook it real good and installed it. (There are not many smart guys like me) WHAT A FIX! Lasted 21 hrs. So I changed it for new and breaking loose the in and out hose coupler on filter head. It's been suggested the metal couplers can be cemented into head, but I had no cement. I used wire ties to hold them in. it lasted about 30 hrs. Now it's bogging down again when hot. The rubber line feeding filter, when squeezed fuel oozes from rubber line. I'm going to change all lines. What's the chances this is problem? All help appreciated. Would it possibly be injector pump? I'm thinking no, because the machine will operate for some time before bogging out. I have feeling if it was pump it would have completely gone out by now.

Cheers....Coffeeman

I would change out the fuel lines, but also check the vent in the fuel cap and make sure it isn't plugged or restricted.

As Galen said, replace all the flex lines from the tank to the injection pump. Any metal line/fuel filter assy/and tank... clean out religiously. They used to sell a product called ' Seal All ' that we used to use for sealing metal gas tanks [ yellow and red tube ], I think it will work on diesel. That could be used to fix your loose pipe in the fuel filter if you can't find something better. I'm not sure if there is a screen on the input of your injection pump, usually is. After all this, fill with good clean diesel. I question where all the crud and water in the fuel is coming from, you might want to change your fueling practices to end this problem. Something don't sound right to me.. Hope you get her back running... Jerry :)

Hi all
turns out the filter plastic bowl has hair line cracks all through it . After running for a while, some of the cracks actually leak. Replaced all the lines and took off the filter. Put an in line filter on it for now. Will consider getting the original filter later. Today i'm going to test it out if it doesn't rain. Have run for about an hour and is running good.

Thanks for the input.......Coffeeman

I had to go with a inline filter on my 3510 several years ago because of the same poor quality fuel bowl issue.
After changing the filter 2nd or 3rd time could NOT get that POS to stop leaking fuel.

I have thought about using a marine type filter / glass bowl bottom type unit, just have not found one yet.

I use a clear plastic inline so I can keep a check on it. Can't tell what's happening with a solid metal inline.

Tractor still running ok after almost 10 hrs. I used inline clear plastic filter. Last use of finish mower today. All I have left to do is clean grass off mower. Might grease it too. I guess tomorrow is clean mower up and take it off day. Next thing, put on box blade and touch up drive lane. Then I park tractor inside.

All have a nice Thanksgiving!! Coffeeman
