Anybody have experience with dealer cost for 50 hr service? I'm trying to decide whether to do it myself or take it back to the dealer (still quite a few hours to go, just doing some planning!). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am at 49 hours on my Mahindra 2810 and ready to get the service. I inquired at my dealer about 2 weeks ago. I was trying to make the same decision as you. He said the service was around $70. I am going to get it but I have not had the chance to get it in.

Thanks West...for under $100, it's probably worth it to me to take it to the dealer. Some of the other threads I read mentioned costs of several hundred dollars...much more. I'll check with my dealer when I get closer and see how the prices compare. Love that Mahindra! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's always better to let the dealer do the first service. They know exactly what to check and look for. Check your warranty too,it might stipulate that the 50hr service must be done by the dealer.

I'm going to call my dealer in the morning...if the price isn't outrageous, I'll take it to the dealer. I've heard of some dealers charging $300-400 for the 50hr...seems very high to me.

I will probably do mine myself. I do not have a large enough trailer to haul the 4500 the 60 miles to the dealer. I do wonder about the neccessity of retorquing the head bolts at 50 hours as specified in the owners manual. Is that something that should be done or must be done?? I wonder how the dealer could tell if it wasn't done and then a warranty problem cropped up?? I suppose it would be better to do it and be safe. Guess I will have to get a valve cover gasket when I go to pick up the oil filter. Chet

Dealer picked up my 2810 yesterday and is dropping it off today. It was the first service and he's only charging me for the oil. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I complained about too much hissing noise coming from the fel controller. I didn't know if that was normal. He fixed that too!

Makers Mark,
Read your post. I have a 2810 about to go in for my 50 hr service. I too have hissing noise in my FEL controller. Can you tell me (or find out) what your dealer did to stop it? I mentioned it to my dealer when I purchased it and he just said it was normal. Now I am not so sure. Other than that irratation, I have no problems with it.

Let me back up. This winter I had a problem with the fel being stuck in position on start-up. I would have to warm the tractor up quite a bit before it loosened up. I posted the problem here and some mentioned it might be moisture. Now with warm weather it just hisses. I spoke to the service guy and he said he took the controller apart and found MOISTURE in the controller. He said he cleaned the area and put a new boot on. I don't know what this is but ok.

Interesting, I've had no hint of noise, but I'll keep an "ear open" for it! Thanks
