New guy here, I have a 2009 Mahindra 4035 gear. When I try to start my tractor my heating element does not turn on, no light on the dash, no nothing. I pulled out the owners manual and started looking at the electrical diagram to find the cause. The only thing on the tractor I could find with a timer was the ksb timer. I know now this controls the timing for the fuel, but when I went to the dealer and talked to him about it he said it might fix it. I went home and installed the timer, the heating element light turned on for about 5 seconds and then I heard something under the hood like a fuse blow. Now the element light doesn't come on at all again. I don't want to take it to the dealer as I haven't had good luck with them. Sorry for the long first post.

Before I got through your thread I was guessing a fuse was blowing and it sounds like that is what you found. Fuses blow due to excess current. Have you inspected the glow plug wiring? You could have a short to the frame. If not, disconnect ALL glow plugs, replace the fuse with the correct size (buy a dozen) and see if the dash lights light up. Then turn off the key and reconnect one glow plug at a time and retry the key until the fuse blows again at which time you found the problem.

It has a heating element in the intake. No glow plugs. Wiring diagram shows no fuse between battery and timer relay.

Okay, but same concept. Often time delays have a load carrying contact in a separate circuit, is there a fuse in that circuit? I would assume that is the one that blew?

My '63 Ford 2000D is like yours with 2 glow plugs (look like big spark plugs) in the intake manifold (clearly seen while standing by the tractor) operated by a solenoid....same as starting solenoid actually, and energized by a push button switch.

The Glow plug current is quite high. There will/should be a high current switch (solenoid, just like the starting solenoid in my Ford) to supply that power. Power circuit is a separate circuit from what makes the circuit activate. Somewhere in your tractor wiring harness is a thermally sensitive switch that closes the circuit at a certain cooler temp allowing 12v to go to the energizing coil of the solenoid and effect the pre-heat when the ignition switch is put in the ON/start position. On my 6530 I apparently have 2 circuits as the glow plugs and indicator light work on one circuit, but I can still roll the starter if the light is on. On some I would assume that you wouldn't be able to roll the starter if in the pre-heat function.

The fact that you say no nothing either indicates a fuse blown somewhere or a bad temp sensor as I see it.

Fusible link is often used for carrying high currents in circuits like the intake manifold heater which probably uses 58 amps.
A fusible link is like a fuse but more durable carrying high current loads.
It is a special wire inside a special insulation. When the link blows the wire melts inside the insulation which stays in place
Goggle "Mahinda fusible link." for pictures so you know what you are looking for.
Usually close to the main power circuit leaving the starter solenoid and going to various circuits in the tractor.
