Mahindra 4035
I have replace the return line to the tank. Replaced the filter and filter/bleed pump housing. And it still run but do the same thing but it was still getting air in the system. After talking to the service manager at the local Mahindra dealer he told me to replace the line going from the filter housing to the injector pump. Bled the air and got it cranked and still the same thing but ran a little better. But was letting it idle and after about 20 or 30 minutes it went dead. I tried to restart it but it wouldn’t start. I figured it has air in it again. Also replace the copper washers on the fuel line too.

Welcome to this forum
Sounds as if your tractor has a fuel restriction from tank to inj pump. Have you checked fuel tank vent to be sure it's not clogged? You could try operating engine with a shop towel covering fuel tank neck. Does this tractor have a fuel transfer(lift) pump? If so transfer pump could have failed.

Could be a plugged air filter as well.

Thanks for all of your help, I blew out the air filter already and the inter air filter looks good. I will try running it with the fuel cap next. It doesn’t have a transfer pump the filter housing has a check valve built in. I saw in a forum were they talked about a time that actives in 20 minutes after i

The timer you mentioned starts and stops the cold start advance on the injection pump. Pump timing can indeed cause problems similar to what you describe, but will often follow a pattern. When that happens the engine will start and run fine for the twenty minutes or so the timer is on. The timer is activated every time the engine is started, by the way. No matter if the engine is cold, warm, hot or whatever. When the timer shuts off the signal to the cold start solenoid stops and the pump timing makes a slight change. I have seen a number of cases on engines with certain versions of Bosch VE pumps where that little bit of timing change will make the engine run ragged, spit, sputter, smoke, not rev to full RPM. It's very noticeable.

If you experience that, and shut the engine off for a few seconds, start it back up and the problem goes away, then this COULD be the cause. Air or restriction in the fuel supply can be another, yes, but that usually doesn't follow a twenty minute pattern and won't disappear after stopping and immediately restarting the engine.

So fore when it shutdown it will not restart with out bleeding it all over again. But haven’t tried bleeding it again after I replaced the line from the housing to the pump.

Then timing is not your problem. You should revisit the supply. Does it still have the braided mesh covered fuel lines with crimp sleeves ? If so, that's the next change I would make. Get rid of that hose and sleeves. cut the sleeves off, replace the hose with rubber fuel hose and standard hose clamps. Then go from there.

The two new lines don’t have the braiding on them. Only one left is the tank to filter line. So do you think I can just strip back the braid, get rid of the crimp and reinstall just the rubber line with a clamp?

The original line with the braided cover is junk, and the crimp sleeves can't be trusted. I would keep the steel pipes, put new hose and clamps between them. What do the new lines look like? I've never seen any but the braided stuff. Maybe they finally got their act together and came up with something that works.

It a reinforced all rubber line. But still has the crimps on them
