Mahindra 3540 PST vs 4530 Shuttle
Looking at buying new and would like for you guys to help me see the differences between the two. Just eyeballing the tractors, the 3540 looks like it will be more user friendly due to low fuel tank (I will likely fuel it with 5 gal cans), a more open seating area, and tilt-steering. It has larger Ag tires than the 4530 on the lot. Both come with FEL and grill guard. The 4530 from what I can tell is a 3cyl with about 4 more hp and weighs several hundred more lbs. The rear lift is made a little different also. They are within $1500 of each other at the local dealer. IIRC, the 3540 is Tier 4 but doesn't have a DPF.
What other differences am I missing? Specifically, operating costs or other costs that are not obvious to me, ease of use, weak points/strong points. I will mainly use the tractor for bush hogging, feeding large round bales, and occasional dirt work on a small cattle farm. I've never owned a diesel. I currently co-own a 1948 Farmall Cub and 1952 Ford 8N with my brother, and I own a worn out 1962 Ford 861 that needs to go to somebody to restore or use for parts.
Dealer will fill tires with fluid and deliver. I plan on taking advantage of the Mahindra implement $1000 discount and pick up a medium duty 6' bush hog and a front end spear. If there are any issues with that particular cutter, advice would be welcome on it also.
