Guys, I'm looking for a new tractor w/fel. I've had a AC 5020 for the past 15 years and that little tractor has really done me well, but I need a fel to pile up brush and move some dirt. I've got it down to the mahindra 3525 or a kubota l3400. The kubota has 4WD but the mahindra has the lifting power and weight. I'm thinking with a ballast, the 2wd 3525 may do just fine. For those that own them, has your 3525 been good? I'm a teacher with 2 ofspring in college and 1 more there in 2 years, so I'm on a budget. Thanks in advance.

I sold a 3525 a few months ago to a local fellow, and he just loves it. He had to retire his old Ford 8N and decided on the 3525 for the simplicity of design and low cost and told me the other day that he was very happy with it. For the record, I get great support from Mahindra for warrany parts and such and am happy to be a Mahindra dealer.

I sell Mahindra, mostly the 4wd models. People often walk right by the 3525 because it is not a 4wd and doesn't have wide R4 tires, etc. I sell them a 4wd because that is what they want (and sometimes need). But the 3525 is an incredible workhorse. It is heavy and strong and simple to operate and work on. I've never dyno'd one, but it will run a 8' flail mower in my orchard with ease, which is usually 40-45HP territory. The Kubota is a nice mahcine as well, but don't be afraid of the 3525.

I've owned a 3525 since late last winter. I currantly have about 70 ours on it. I can't comment on the use of a FEL since I don't have one yet, though I will have before next spring. About 90% of my time has been bush hogging, most of it "extreme" : 2-3" sapling 15 -25 " high and very thick. I have been constantly amazed at the work the 3525 is capable of. The 3525 is a tough heavy tractor and has been trouble free in hard use.
Compared to the L3400, the 3525 is about 1500 lbs heavier without loaded tires. This additional weight should negate the benefits of front wheel assist.
I believe the 3525 is the most underrated tractor in the Mahindra line. Check this board for reports of problems with them. There are only a couple of instances of loosened bolts which is really a maintance issue anyway.
I would recommend the 3525 highly to anyone needing a tractor in the 30-45 hp range.
Good Luck

I bought a 3525 in Feb of this year. I love it. Easy to use and haven't had a need for the 4WD. I do have the FEL and it works great. The only thing I've found is it helps to have the bushhog on the back if lifting a heavy load in the FEL. This helps with the traction in loose dirt. I've bushhogged with it and also cleared out small trees and used in in home construction. It has worked great. My bushhog is a 6 foot agri-cutter and I wouldn't buy one of those again. The metal is too flemsy. I would buy the 3525 again. I chose it over the Mahindra C35. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
