Battery replacement on this tractor is a real ordeal plus 10. After 4 years using the machine, the factory battery just died. Had to buy a new replacement; only place available was from a local NAPA parts store. But first I had to get the old battery out of its niche in front of the radiator! That was a genuine ordeal. The area where the battery is hidden small. Mahindra must have assembled the tractor around the battery. How I ever got it out is a big mystery such that I cannot describe it; you'll have to experience it. I had to get the battery out because the NAPA parts store was going to charge another $18 if I didn't hand over the old battery plus $108 (including California 9.5% sales tax)! Batteries are assigned a number by an international standardization organization. The tractor came with one designated: BIC 58 -- so this pretty much leaves no leeway in shopping around for me. In trying to find out how to get the battery out of its obstructed nesting place, I figured well, just remove the obstructing brackets and the engine's air filter assembly. Found out that all of the nuts on the bolts were welded down. I guess Mahindra didn't want anyone taking off the air cleaner -- probably under the orders off the environmental mitigation engineer?? So, if you're going to put in a new battery, have fun.
