Hello to all,
I live in Australia on approx 5 acres of mainly mowing land.I also have a few hundred metres of driveway made from crushed rock. I am looking for a fast way to slash the block that grows back at this time of year every 2 weeks and to maintain the driveway with a fel.I also get some pallet deliveries and want to use the quick hitch design to change over to pallet forks. Some pallets range in the 300-450kg range but not very often on the heavy side.I like to self levelling bucket on the Mahindra and it just looks a little heavier duty than the jd but it also ways 350kg more than the jd.The Mahindra seems a little more powerful in most aspects but the jd name is hard to look past. Both dealers fairly close with good reps.Any help is appreciated

No opinions????
I`m sure they are both good machines my main area of concern would be history of reliability and capability of front hydraulics.
Thanks

I like my Mahindra. I have the 2015 which is the little brother of the 3015. I've had no problems with it. It's alot of tractor for the money.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with a Deere, but I would go for the higher lift capacities. Mahindra is known for high capacities. Eventually, no matter how much your tractor can lift (no matter what brand), you're gonna encounter circumstances where you wish it could lift just a little more!

It's gonna come down to your preference, and which dealer you like better. That's just my opinion.

altered8,

I have no experience with the Manindra, but my real-world experience with the JD2520, with Frontier fixed-tine pallet forks is that it will only lift 800lbs to a height of approximately 4 feet.

Therefore, if I calculate correctly, 450kg equals approx. 992lbs, I don't think the 2520 can lift the max. amount you need to lift (at least not in a manner that would be very productive). People have reported lifting over 1000 lbs with the 2520, but only to a height of a foot or two, and not something you'd want to be doing every day.

Best of luck with your search.

The Mahindra machine is a "bigger" machine than the JD so in a spec to spec comparison it will always come out ahead.

The JD name will get you a better resale value though.

The 3015 is a good machine and has been around for a long time. It should always have good parts availability.

Welcome to TBN, mate :D! I am tractor shopping with and for a friend. I looked at and played with both tractors. IMHO I believe you made a very good choice for your stated applications. Good luck- use your new tractor safely and well, and most importantly send pictures- we like pictures. Jay :)

New tractor just got delivered today. Will post some pics asap.very easy to swap between bucket and forks, even for the wife.Wont be lifting this much very often but just picked up my old compressor to test forks and it ways in at 1150lbs.I only lifted it a foot or so but it did it very easily.I also cant believe how much faster it is than my neighbours 2320 on the ground.
