I've been looking at buying a new tractor for quite some time. Was pretty sure I was going to pull the trigger on a MF GC 2400. However I saw a Mahindra 1816 at our county fair and am now seriously considering that tractor. Basically I have to mow 3 acres so a mid-mount mower is needed. I have some light front end loader need - moving wood, dirt, mulch, chicken litter/manure, hay/straw. Wil eventually get 3 point tiller and rotary mower. I live in Northeast OH and thus have a need to move snow. Does anyone have input on how this tractor mows. In general I like the idea of a heavier tractor, but how does this do with tearing up turf and mowing over septic tank. Has anyone used the 1816 to move snow? Any input is appreciated.

The customers I have sold 1816's to seem to be very happy with them.

Have they used the 1816's to mow. How have they used the tractor to move snow? Thanks for the feedback.

That is exactly what they have used them for. Some have run the 51" belly mower and some have used a 60" rear finish mower. They have all used the loaders in the snow.

I bought this same tractor just a few weeks ago. So far, great little machine. Have limited experience and limited seat time with it, but so far, I love it.

By the way, the MMM mows like a sumbitch! You can throw grass the whole way over to the neighbors.

My only complaint, and one shared by many CUT owners, would be the placement of the fuel tank.

I also didn't fill my tires due to concerns of going through a septic tank on adjacent property that I mow. Tractor's still on this side of the grass though.:D

In my case, due to reasonably close dealer, and what I felt I got for the money, I couldn't be happier with this tractor.

Good luck in your decision.

I'm looking for info on what this little beast can do in the snow---like a foot or two. Anybody got any photos or video?

We have the 1815 HST which the 1816 replaced. We have a Lucknow 52" blower on the 3 point and between the blower and the FEL we have not yet found a Michigan UP storm that could slow it down. We love the tractor and it really makes snow removal a hoot!!:):)

I know this thread is a few months old but I am wondering about the snow removal as well. I am still in the "dream stage" of tractor shopping as we are STILL waiting to sell our house. I looked (again...) at the specs of the 1816 and just now noticed how BIG the tires are.. The specs for the engine at 58 cc vs 43.9 for the Kubota and a weight difference of over 400lbs would definitely help with snow removal. I do want the loader, MMM and the snowblower as well. I was wondering if anyone has the front blower and what they think of it. I can always wait on the blower till later if the 1816 can/will push 18+ inches of snow reasonably well with a loader.

FWIW, I ended up with a Kubota 2660BX with FEL (0% financing), Curtis Sno-Pro plow, and Woods rotary cutter off Craigslist. No snow yet, so I can't report on plowability but with almost 30 hours on the Kubotee, I couldn't be happier. It sits lower than the Mahindra and I believe is better in the woods/sidehill where I live. Today I'll be out skidding logs with it----if it ever warms up!

Mahindra has a line of subs coming, called the Max Series, similar to the 1816. They will have a full line of attachments, all compatable with each other. As of now they have not had a front snowblower available for the 1816. As you are thinking the heavier tractor will out do the lighter on ground enguaging chores and lifting capabilities.
