I found a great, durable looking cup holder called the "Octopus" at a local auto parts store. It can hold cans, bottles and cups with handles up to 32 oz size. It has a non-scratch rubber bottom the I siliconed in two computer hard drive magnets. It holds very securely. Just another variation on the "Chalkey Cup".

Hello,
I too made a magnetic cup. I took a stainless steel Starbucks cup and used epoxy to attach a couple of surplus computer magnets to it. Just by accident I found that a beer bottle fits inside of it just right........ Hmmmm.

Very cool! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif I like it, too. It looks a lot more durable that the one I broke before the whole magnetic cup saga began.

Here I go again Mark........

I see all of this endless talk of tractor cups etc.

One thing I can't work out. Unless Kubota's ride a lot better in the 30 years or so since mine was built, I can't imagine keeping a cupfull of water in a bucket on my fender, let alone a cup of water in a cup.

How come it don't spill???????????????????

The secret is the lid!

Neil -

I'm sure Mark will jump in with his answer shortly, but why wait for him? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

The 7-11 cup used in the traditional Chalkley Cup, as well as a many others, have spill-proof lids. As long as you have enough magnetic holding power, your drink ain't going nowhere but with you. I've hit jolts that tested the ability of my seatbelt to keep me on the tractor, and never spilled a drop. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Aha I see.

Unfortunately it would be very un-Australian to be seen with one of them. I sneak a water bottle with me at time, but there is nowhere (yet) to store it.

If one were to go to that trouble, one would have to install a stubby holder, not a cup /w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

You can't even eat dinner around here without someone butting in and shootin' his mouth off, answering questions that weren't directed to him... /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif (Notice I didn't name any names, Harv! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

About the worst that happens with the 7-11 cup (it's actually made by Aladdin and I've seen other C-stores selling it with their logo on it, too) is a little liquid wetting the top when the going gets really rough. If it's also very dusty, you can develop a healthy amount of mud, which I think would be very manly to drink, even in Australia. You could even claim that's the reason you have the cup in the first place. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But if you're a wimp, like me, you can put one of those plastic-wrap bowl covers with the elastic band around the edge on top. Keeps the dust/dirt out, and keeps you from wearing the enamel off your teeth drinking crunchy water/whatever.
