MAG LED FLASHLIGHTS

I just wanted to let you know i shelled out 23 dollars on one of them new maglights[AA] It is alot brighter than the original,in a comparison test with my old one.It is a different kind of light[looks blue to this color blind fool]It spots just like the old one yet its slightly longer.The batterys last 4 times longer it is claimed,that sold me right there.Iused it in the candle mode working on my jeep underneath and it lit up the whole thing.My dad bought the after market bulb for his ORIGINAL,i think it was as bright ,but you lose the ability to spot with the old one.I just wanted to share,i think most will like this tool,better than the original,even though its over twice as much.

A few years back I was all set up with several new Petzl headlamps and a real nice dual headlight system for my bicycle. Now they are all out of date and I can't get some of the bulbs I need. Bummer!

Just about think I am ahead only to find I've been lapped!

In my jeep I have LED flashlight for years, got it from Costco just because the life expectancy of the batteries. It works well for close distance.

I swore off MAG lights a long time ago. The reflectors always cracked, the bulbs are to fragile, and the batteries where always dead or died just before the job was done.

I also have been using LED flashlights for long time, they are the cats meow...

I really like the Coleman lantern style LED, the rechargable automobile work lights are also the ones I now use. Never get hot and don't blind you when up close to them, charges last longer than I would have thought also. Just like a Timex can take a lickin an keep on ticking.

They sell a led replacement bulb for your ordinary mag light,bought one,,works good,not blue light like my other small led light,,light looks white,,maybe a difference,don't know,between it and buying light that came with it,,,,,if you use mag lights,,look for one,,,only thing I hated about mini mag lights was bulbs blowing,,,and I use these for my work,,,,these leds are supposed to last a very long time,,we'll see,,,not quite as bright I don't think,,and you can't adjust,,but its adjusted to a pretty small area as it is,,,,thingy

My vote is for the Streamlight Stinger. Its less bulky, tough, stays charged long time, is rechargeable with its small stand and has adapter for 110 or 12 volts. Mine has the extra battery option that stays on the charger. I have used Mag and found them to be troublesome long term, corrodes inside, bulky and is generally just a "dead battery holder".
I need a flashlight to work so I think the rechargeable idea is best, as opposed to the hunt for good batteries in the dark.
I have used/ dropped every flashlight known to man including the big rechargable spot lights for inspection/ repair in the auto service field and I believe the Stinger is THE BEST FLASHLIGHT ALL AROUND. PERIOD.

I have been using LED flashlight's for years and probably own over a dozen now. I love them and have one hanging off my belt at all times. Seem to last forever and the batteries have a very very long life.

I have not found a LED flashlight that is bright enough for me. I go into a lot of attics and crawl spaces, and need to be able to see well.

I have several Mags, then went to the StreamLight. Loved the StreamLight except for the length. Experimented with some of the LEDs, but about a year ago, found the surefire.com web site. I purchased a G2 for 36 dollars, shown here: Surefire G2; Nitrolon® flashlight from SureFire

It takes 2 LITHIUM 123A BATTERIES. If you purchase the batteries from SureFire, they are reasonably priced (box of 12 batteries for $21, plus $4 shipping). If you go to WalMart, or a similar store, the batteries are very expensive. The good thing is, they have a 10 year shelf life, not that any of mine hang around that long.

I also purchased a rechargeable 8NX Commander:

This was my primary light until the battery needed replacing. Tried to get a replacement from SureFire, but all their rechargeable batteries are going to our troops in Iraq. Mine is sitting on the shelf now, waiting a replacement battery.

In the interim, the G2 is serving me well.

Bob, you might want to try one of these. Lightwave 4000 LED Flashlight. I have been using one of them for years and it has more than enough power for what I use a flashlight for. Granted, the LED flashlight's are rarely good at long range but I rarely need to use it as a spot light. This thing really put's out alot of light and the D batteries in mine have lasted over 2 years so far. I think they say the average use is something like 720 hours of continous use on fresh batteries.
