M7040SUHD
I own a 7040SUHD with 8F and 8R gears. When I use my fail mower (Kubota SE3250), it moves too fast through heavy grass.
Is it possible to add a creeper gear to the M7040SUHD? I have rung Kubota Australia but they cannot help.

First-time poster.

I just added this to my M 9540 for similar reasons.
After getting the wrong p/n from the local dealership (and they said that it was an obsolete part) I called Messicks parts. They found a supply of them in Kubotas obsolete parts warehouse and sent me one. They then took it on return less an understandable restocking fee and my shipping it back.
They found the correct P/N and sent it and the local dealer installed it. I know the service manager and they did a good job, about 12 hours.
Messicks is a big dealer with multiple locations in Pennsylvania and operates a big parts operation with a good website. I imagine that shipping to AU might not be out of the ordinary for them but in the same time wonder about what "boundaries" Kubota corporate enforces when it comes to the other side of the globe?
At minimum they might supply the P/N for you to look for.
I have (had) the 12 speed, now it's got another 6 in "creep" giving me 3 ranges. It's a lot cheaper than buying a tractor with another 60-80 hp just for the mulcher or 8' snowblower. 👍

Thanks for the Messicks link. I will contact them. I also found Fezzik's post on installing a creeper gear on a M7060. Fezzik
What I have not been able to find is how the creeper gear is engaged. What is added to the gear levers and how are they linked?
Is the gearbox on the M7040SUHD similar to the M7060?

With my tractor with range selector lever, it just gets another lever position and a new decal indicating the fully forward position of creep range.
It originally had 2 positions (L&H) now there's 3 and with the 6 speed gearbox I have 6 speeds in creep, low & high. I can't speak to your M7060 or a "SUHD" although a friend's M7040 with the 2 range & the 4 speed gearbox it would seem to be the same. We both have the left hand clutch less hydraulic reverser and a range change requires a full stop.
If I've misunderstood your question we can keep trying. I remember collecting nearly any information was next to impossible. 👍

I have been wanting to add creep to my 8 speed as well. What would be really awesome is if you could add park!

According to Scot from Messicks, there are no listed kits for the M7040SUHD. I was hoping that the gearboxes on the M7040 series were similar enough to take the creeper kit.

I don't recall seeing reference to creeper in my M7040SUHD book.

The current M5660SU appears to have the same "back end" as the M7040SU and no creeper option listed.

The M7060 is dealer install kit and is just another position on the range stick and updated sticker/decal.

Dealer can do creep at any time. I didn't opt for creeper but I asked.

Adding park a different story. I have 12 speed with park and using park is somewhat slower than locking the brakes on the 8 speed. Main appeal for me is it is impossible to drive with the parking brake on.

One thing I did when I special ordered my M9000 HDCC3 back in 2002, I ordered the tractor fully optioned out including the creep gears, 3 sets of remotes with the top set with flow control, 2 speed (540 and 1000 PTO and all the cab options as well. I saw no point in adding anything at a later date and got everything up front.

Interestingly, my 02 M9 was the last one Kubota built in Japan and I waited almost 4 months for it and many of the parts are stenciled or paint marked with unique numbers for which I presume Kubota pulled them from tool room inventory. I even have a builder plate on the frame that denotes me as the buyer.

Been a great unit with zero issues in over 5000 hours and it was totally worth the wait.

I use the creep option rarely, but I do use it when I pull a planter.

I am writing this without knowing exactly what you are having trouble cutting, but when I run into grass with my twin spindle Bush Hog 3008 that is too thick for it, I simply take partial passes. It doesn't cost anything to cut 6' with an 8' mower, and is about the same time as slowing it down with a creeper gear. I would prefer that over sending my tractor to the shop and having to deal with the issues that happen when you get a bad mechanic, or one that came in hung over!
Another thing I would consider is to sharpen the blades on the flail mower, or change them out to a heavier knife. Not sure changing the knife's out would help, but if you are using the stamped sheet metal ones, the forged blades might retain their sharpened edge better.
