Kubota M7040HD; IH 424 gas
I posted last week on an M6040 purchase. My deal fell thru and I ended up purchasing an M7040 with FEL, Front wheel weights, cast rear hubs, 2 sets of rear remotes, and loaded R1 tires. The final price was $30k on Kubota's 60mo at 0% offer.

Are there any issues with M7040's that I should address/fix when I pick up my tractor?

It was a dealer transfer and I had to pick it up and move it from a dealer in OH to a dealer in NY as part of my negotiation. So I was able to inspect the machine as well as test drive it. The NY dealer is setting up the FEL and loading the R1's, I should be scheduled to pick it up next week.

you are really going to like this M series tractor with much more guts (IMO) than the grand L. You're main advantage over the 6040 is the limited slip ft. end making fel work & cornering smoother. you might have the dealer at pick up double check the hyd shuttle adj (if you have one) in F & R as mine needed it soon afterward. also check your ft. axle & hub oil level as they tend to settle in shippment and dealers are lax about that stuff. get ready w/some big containers come the 50 hr service! if you're planning to do much ecxavation, a tooth bar really helps on bucket. overall, a wise investment bb

Does the M7040 owner's manual outline the 50hr service or will I need to purchase a service manual to do it? I plan on buying the service manual anyway at some point. Do you have a good place besides the dealer to buy one?

the owners manual (assume you have that) gives the scheduled maintenance intervals on components so it covers what needs changing, basically the fluid & filter changes for engine, hydraulic, and ft axle/hubs. The how to is basic but you'll need a large container for the hyd reservoir. BTW the ft. axle drains on the lower end of each hub & fills on the axle w/an overflow plug. Again, check again soon after you fill as things settle. think K sells service manuals for around $100, not sure about on line, someone maybe can clue you on that. the 50 hr service is not particularly challenging other than being able to get the fluids into the tractor from containers. I finally (after 4 tractors) purchase 5 gal containers for hyd & ft axle (80/90 GL5 gear oil) and got 2 separate pumps from Napa & Northern Tool for that....trying to do it in small containers is messy and more likely for contaminants. good luck, awesome machine! bb
