My machine was just in for service to fix a mystery leak coming from above/behind the left rear wheel...some sort of fitting was leaking, and while it was there the dealer told me the thumb cylinder was leaking and needed to be fixed. I also had a bit too much slop in the backhoe and had some shims put in.

So I pick it up this morning to finish this lawn renovation job I've been working on...putting down 10k SF of sod. I'm almost finished...doing some ground prep for the last of the sod. I spin the seat around to use the hoe and the machine shuts off. At first I check the seat weight sensor kill switch to make sure it's working. All good there. The display panel shows the PTO engagement light on, and the LCD display reads consecutive messages as follows: PTO, neutral, depress, brake, clutch, parking..then repeats. For some reason the machine thinks it's in PTO mode. I figured, OK, it's confused...better toggle the PTO switch, clutch, brake, parking brakes, etc. NOTHING. Dead...Won't start. Stuck in this yard. Bummer.

I call the local Kubota dealer. They tell me to find the PTO engagement switch under the PTO lever and make sure it's still connnected and looks OK. Looks OK to me. Now I'm stuck in the middle of this job and can even move the machine to get it to the dealer. There gonna send out a tech tomorrow for a field call.

Hopefully it's someting stupid and this sucker gets moving again.

I went through the same problem. Turned out I blew a fuse that was in the fuel solenoid power circuit. I believe I hit the PTO lever with my knee when I went to turn the seat. I'm not certain of the circumstances but some combination caused the fuse to blow. Check your fuses.

Yeah check your fuses. Had sorta the same thing here, was installing rear working lights on the roll bar and accidentally shorted out the headlight circuit. When I tried to start the machine, Nada, zip , zilch, Seems that the engineering dept at Kubota thought that it might be a good idea to put the fuel pump and the headlights on the same circuit.

Sometimes yuh just gotta wonder what those buggers have been smokin.

Fuse it was! Thanks for the pointer. The 5 amp fuse for the "Key Stop" was blown.

Fixed.

Seems like a fairly common Kubota problem. My B21 would start and run as long I had the starter engaged. Once I let go of the key it would stop. After some time trying to debug in the mud it turned out to be that 5 amp key stop fuse. A few days of operating later the stop solenoid started smoking. I believe mud or water that had entered the stop solenoid was the culprit.
