2008 Kubota M59
I'm enjoying the heck out of my auction-fresh M59. For those of you familiar with the machine, mine has the third function hydraulics on the loader. However, mine is missing the rocker switch inside the loader control and the pushbutton lock/unlock switch below the joystick. In the Messicks parts diagram, the only switch I can find is the lock/unlock pushbutton switch. Does this mean I need to buy the whole control lever and the pushbutton in order to use the aux loader hydraulics? Is there an aftermarket alternative or am I stuck with the pricey Kubota parts?

The on-off switch is just a lit toggle switch held on with a hose clamp (the actual OEM mounting method). It wouldnt be hard to replace or wire up. 2 or 3 wire switch. Getting the right plug to connect to the harness would be the hard part.

Okay thanks. That switch is $130, so if i cant do a Radio Shack hack job, OEM wont be too painful. The fwd/reverse or open/close rocker switch is the one I'm still worried about.

The joystick buttons on my L4060 are nice. That on-off switch is so ghetto looking though. It works, but was such a design as afterthought. LLP

You can wire it directly to your own switch(es). The Kubota version gives you a nice wiring harness, lighted latching push button and joystick switches. I wish I could easily source the wiring harness plugs Kubota uses because I hate tapping into wires.

As far as I know, there are not many after market alternatives for the M59. I'm wondering what is wrong with yours. Can you post a picture? The stock one on mine sounds different from what Fallon is describing. It's a nice-looking handle, and all self contained. No hose clamp. Your hand is going to sit on it every moment you are working. I wish the treadle was half as well thought out.

You may have to buy a new handle, but after getting a machine with a thumb for $25K, if it were mine I'd probably just earmark a reasonable amount of cash - a grand or so - to get it into shape. The handle is a good example. Also OEM hydraulic filters.
What kind of 3rd function do you have that you are you going to run on the loader arms?

Most of the stuff needed is something you can probably do with a little welding or metal fab. I use the local hydraulics shop when I need hoses. In fact, the Kubota shop does the same.

I'd stick with the OEM oils and filters to start - in fact stick with OEM parts in general at the first. At least after trying it the other way (of course) I've come to the conclusion that is what has worked best for me in the past. I've found with used machines it is very handy to get a feel for a sort of baseline performance as soon as I can. Each is different.

I know this thread is old but will give the info I was just given by my Kubota dealer. The switch in the loader joystick (I have a 2018 L47) went bad. I am able to open my grapple but not close. When I switch the hydraulic lines around it closes but doesn稚 open. I am assuming this tells me there痴 a problem with the switch. My dealer said you can not just buy the switch. I have to purchase the entire joystick for around $600.00. Now the 3rd function was only installed around hour 70 of the brand new tractor. I am a little over 100 hours. This switch is still pretty new. I am going to look around for some sort of aftermarket switch and rig something up because after sinking between $60-70k into this new piece of equipment, I refuse to replace the joystick housing this early in the game.

I havent had mine apart (L4060, but there's a decent chance its shared with the TBLs), but I'd wager it's just some commodity switches inside. Crack it open, pull the switches out & Google a part number, find a $5 switch in your search results.

Diagnosis is reasonable. Although I'd suspect a loose wire, possibly dead relay as much or more than a dead switch. Really you'd need to hit it with a multimeter to find out. At the switch would be the best place to start probing with the meter.

Agreed. Tomorrow I plan to take it apart to check the connections and test with a multimeter. If it is the switch, I知 sure a little time researching on google will find me some replacement. When I work the switch left to right, there is a different feel in the functionality. For example, when I work to switch to the right (the functioning side) I can feel normal travel as opposed to when I work the switch to the left side (the non functioning side) it feels almost jammed/stuck/no travel. Thanks for replying Fallon, just another item on the punch list I guess!

Installed third function on both M59 and B26 about two years ago. Read a thread about a redesigned handle/switch that improved strength. My units had the newer type. Same plastic head and switch on both.
I have two buttons, one above the other. Not a rocker switch.

Both cost about the same from Kubota. The lines and valves considerably bigger for the M59.
