M/F 135
Hello, I am a new member, I have a son who just had to have a tractor, so off he went and purchased an M/F 135, he told me it is a 1974 model.

It runs good and look goods good. He has had it for just about a week now. Last night after using it for a short time he noticed oil leaking from 2 small holes under the tractor he said it leaked out a few cups of oil and stopped he then started the tractor again and it starting leaking again.

Does anyone know what the 2 holes are and where is the oil coming from.

Thanks for you thoughts.

Is it a multipower? Are the two holes in the bell housing?

Yes, it has 2 pin holes in the B/H.

The holes are probably the weep holes in the bottom of the bell housing -- the oil is either coming from the tranny or the engine. You need to check to see which level is dropping. A couple of cups is not good news. If it is from the engine it is the rear seals on the crank. If it is from the tranny it is the front seals in the tranny. Multi powers are kinda known for leaking from the tranny. Sorry -- hope I am wrong but sellers have been known to plug those weep holes so the leaks don't show up till later

Well, looking today it appers to be motor oil and the level is way down. So, does anyone have a post on replacing the seal?

It is a pretty major effort to replace the seal -- you have to split the tractor -- do you have a service manual? You might want to try posting a new thread in the Massey Ferguson forum -- lots of 135 owners there.

I have a 1964 MF-135 diesel with multipower. Got oil leaks too, but not out of the weep holes like you have.

Get ready to get up close and personal with your MF-135.

You'll have to drop the oil pan, which is a heavy, cast steel part of the tractor's main structure to get to the rear seal on the crankshaft. If it's the transmission seal, you'll have to split the tractor.

He gives great info and detail on rebuilding a 135. You can learn a lot from the photos he posted.

Also get the MF-135 service and parts manuals. I got mine from Jensales

Jensales Manuals Original Technical, Operators and Service Manuals, and Parts Catalogs for combines, tractors, balers, and farm implements.

I also have the CD from Big Dean Austin ($20), a veteran MF mechanic/service technician, who tells you how to do this kind of work. He's the MF-135 guru.

Fear not. Splitting the 135 is not that difficult. YOu can do it with a good floor jack and a few jack stands or 4x6 cribbing to support the halves of the tractor.

Be sure to use 2x4 wedges between the front axle and the frame to steady the tractor before splitting.

Read all the manuals; take your time and the job will be done before you know it.
