I am new to this forum, so be gentle, I have posted this thread in "projects" aswell. So here it is PLEASE HELP....
cub cadet M-60 tank Hydraulic issues

I Have an m-60 tank, several years old. with 1200 hours on the unit. I bought it at an auction. After replacing a couple of oil seals, and the PTO, it now, will barely move out of it own way. it will sometime go forward, will not go in reverse, and the fluid in the Hydraulic reserve tank is frothy looking, like air is in it. about 2 months ago, it would ride around fine, no thought of hydro issues. I see NO leaks Any help would be appreciated. I am not a certified mechanic, but can hold my own if some point me in the right direction. Do I need to rebuild 1 of the pumps or all of them? if so what difficulty would it be? it seems that if I hold both levers forward, it will get enough pressure to go. Where do I start, it has individual wheel motors and pumps. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Don't know how you managed to buy one of these suckers but it has no hydraulics. The turrent is electric and the transmission is a 6 speed allison.

It is not an army tank. It is a cub cadet lawn mower. The army tank would be fun to have though. Thanks

From what I see ,the m60 has modular w/separate pump&wheel motor.it looks as the wheel motor is ran by the hydro pump. your transmission oil should be 20w 50 ! IF it has air bubbles, one of three things are going wrong!1st you have air coming in to the system!!! and may be no leck to see!or has the wrong or broken down trans oil in it or water! or a bad vavle in the pump, make sure where your dip stick for your trans is sealed right, so that no air gets suck in.

You definately have air in the system, that's why it won't move.
After doing the repairs, did you bleed the system?
If not, start the machine with the drive tires off the ground.
Move the levers back and forth for ten to fifteen minutes.
This should purge the air in the system.

Akso make sure the dump valve levers on the pumps are in the "run" position.

After moving the dump levers around, it now works fine. Thanks a million.

I seem to also have a burnt out PTO clutch, slow deck speed, and stops under pressure. What do you think? Thanks again

As long as the clutch is working, you may only need to have it adjusted. Best to let a cub dealer do this.
Check the belt and spring on the tensioner for the engine to deck, also the belt and spring on the blade belt tensioner.

So I try following this post (you shouldn't hav cross-posted, makes it confusing) all along, to lean here that it is a silly lawn mower you were talking about?????? Sigh. I thought this was going to be something interesting.

Yea, just vent out the air by moving it around a lot, wiggle the controls, & it will be fine - could take some time. For a boring lawn mower...... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just having some fun..... but I really did think you had some real piece of machinery there.....
