Anybody using an M8540 or M9540 Hydraulic Shuttle for excavating or pushing over stumps?
How do you like the HD inching feature when trying to creep up to implements or in tight areas. Are you using the 8 speed or 12 speed versions?

I've got an M8540HD with 8 speed transmission. I've not yet done any real stump or excavation work with it, at least not intentional Very happy with the tractor.

I'm not sure what you mean by the HD inching feature, although I'm able to creep up very slowly with good control to implements using the hydraulic shuttle/clutch and brakes.

I have the hydraulic shuttle on my M95 and I have pushed alot of trees and stumps over with it in the last few weeks, it is an awesome beast. If I want to slow down gradually as the tree is going over I do use the foot clutch a little. Same with creeping slowly to hook up a rear mounted implement.

Once in a while I catch myself using the clutch pedal when simply going from forward to reverse and with this transmission you don't need to do that. Old habits die hard. I have only had the machine just under 2 months so as I get more used to it I will need the clutch less and less.

I have the swing shift option that gives 32 speed forward and 32 speeds in reverse.
