I have a 1999 LX279 with a Kawasaki engine. Lots of hours, but still runs good & doesn't smoke or use oil. I notice lately when I shut it off, I hear a knocking sound as it stops. What does it sound like when the rods are going out on this engine? Or could it be something else?

Rod noise will go along with engine speed and be more of a constant thing. Maybe something like the PTO clutch rocking back and tapping the frame?
