Long time no post, have not had the need. As I respect y'all so much and have learned a tremendous amount from you I figure I launch a question to increase my knowledge base.
So I am looking at buying a tractor to mow with, and only mow with. I have been looking for a JD318 for months. The only ones I have seen are either stupid money or have the snots beat out of them. Today I stopped at my local JD dealer (1 hour away) to talk.
He is working hard at getting me to buy a new X300, real hard. He also has two LX277s in the used lot. One LX277 has been through the shop and made ready for sale. This one he wants $2200 for and has 180 hours and 48" deck on it. The second one has NOT gone through the shop yet and serviced. This one has 300ish hours and a 42" deck for $1200. Both are 2003 models.
What are the thoughts from the experts on the LX277's? What should I look for on them that maybe a problem down the road? It was pouring rain so did not drive either or the new X300. I am leaning toward to used models.
As an aside he also has some 335s and 345s as well as some 4xx models. I believe the 4xx to be too big for my needs and the used 335/345's are more money, considerably, than the X300. They are also out of my budget. Should I consider them hoping the dealer with dicker?
Well thanks for the consideration and help on this issue. Boy I wish things were not so complicated.
