I recently bought a LX176 with 14HP Kawasaki. The motor ran good but the fuel filter was full of crud from the rusted pick up tube in tank. I pulled the tank flushed it and replaced the pick up tube and fuel filter and put on new fuel line from the tank to the pump. This weekend while mowing the motor would stumble and die. It would run but surged. There was no fuel in the filter. After checking the gas cap vent and trying with the cap removed I had the same problem. I replaced the pump with a new unit today and the mower runs fine but it still won't fill the fuel filter. Is this normal or do I have some other problem? I am thinking now I may have thrown parts at it without troubleshooting properly :confused2:

It seem like for some reason the fuel filters only fill about 1/2 full and have what looks like a large air bubble. This is normal so as long as it keeps running fine you did the right thing by replacing the pump. If it faulters again, re-check the gas cap.

Ok, good deal. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully it continues to run well now.
