I picked up my LW7 back hoe from Chip at ARTRAC a couple of weekends ago and had not planned on messing with installation until the fall. A couple of good rainy days in Oklahoma last week changed my mind and allowed me the time to fool with it.
Hanging it on the my KAMA 554 3pt. was no problem but, the hydraulics were a problem. The instructions (if you could call them that) were useless. They stated that the backhoe was set up to run off the tractor remotes. When I hooked up the remotes all it did was transferr all the fluid from the tractor to the backhoe resevoir. I soon determined that the backhoe resevoir was only used if a seperate pto pump is installed. The return line from the valves to the backhoe resevoir and the return line to the tractor had to somehow be spliced together and the resevoir eliminated in order to use the tractor remotes.
I drove to Chip's new location and talked to his mechanic Mike. He was a great help. He provided me with a selection of fittings that I was able to jury rig a splice between the two different size hoses. While not perfect it does work.
What I need is one single size hose from the valves to the tractor QDs.
I also noted that the controls on the boom, arm and curl all seem to work backwards of how I would think they should. If I pull a lever towards me I would expect the boom to move up or towards me. Can this be changed by rearranging the hoses on the valves? Could it be done without new fittings?

Parry,
I answered this but don't see it? so I'll do it again.
The backhoe was set up to use a pump mounted above the PTO shaft, I even added the pump to the box of parts, however, as you discovered, it is possible to run it off of the remotes, but it takes some adaptors and I'm glad Mike got you fixed up. The easiest way to change directions will be to change the hoses at the cylinder just unscrew both hosese and swap them.

I just rigged a YW-6 to my Branson 3510. I removed the hyd tank and had to make 1 fitting for the pressure line. My local hydraulics shop put a fitting on the return line but wouldn't guarranty the pressure line (metric). I took the bolt on fitting from the Jinma hyd pump and bolted it to a 3/8" plate with a piece of 1/2" pipe welded to it. I put the QD fitting on the 1/2" pipe.
As state, just switch the hoses at the cylinder. Make sure the connections are clean and the O-ring is in place when going back together. Use a dab of grease to hold it in place if nessary. Also find a neutral position for the hoe before disconnecting the hoses or you will get a bath and/or hurt from falling steel!!

As far I as I know all the LW7 series are plumbed the way you speak of. Swapping the hoses does wonders!

Thanks Chip. I did receive the aux pump but it seemed a simpler set up to use the remotes. I believe it will also simplify installation and removal.
