Been fighting a tricare medical bill for a few days, talked to a retired HM Chief at Sugar Grove Naval Station in Sugar Grove West Virginia who steered me in the right direction (problem fixed hopefully). Car needed a new inspection sticker, went to the local shop, no waiting (even needed new front brake pads). Since I'm already downtown, go to get a haircut, no waiting, car needs a oil change, oil change bays are empty, in/out in about 10 minutes, need a italian sandwich, in and out of martins food store in about 5 minutes, no one else in line... did I mention, the sandwich was discounted $3.00. Plus all the stop lights were green. I did about a days worth of work in about two hours. Probably should have bought a lottery ticket.

That's kind of the way I felt 2 weeks ago when I took my little Ford Ranger to the dealer for an oil & filter change. I went to pay for it and the cashier said, "No charge." Then she said I still had $62 in my "Owner Advantage" account. So I came home, got the wife's Crown Vic, went back, and spent $30 of it for an oil & filter change in her car. Had both serviced on the same day and didn't cost me anything.

I've had a rough few weeks. Moving from my previous house (of 13 years, longest I've lived anywhere) into my grandmother's home which is over 80 years old. Serious family problems going on at the same time, dad, sister, son, uncle, you name it. Everything going wrong all at once. Seeming like NOTHING, no matter how simple is going right. Finally got washer and dryer hooked up in basement, one at one end, one at the other. For image of basement just imagine any Indiana Jones movie. Turn on the hot water line and spigot is leaking. Turn it off and its still leaking. I'm so tired (exhausted) and so frazzled I can't figure it out (and I plumbed my whole cabin all by myself). It was just about the last straw. I give up and call the plumber and he shows up in about 15 minutes. He looks at the spigot and says all I need to do is tighten the compression nut on top. I feel like an idiot. I grab a wrench and fumble with it. He takes it away, tightens the compression nut, writes the bill as a work estimate and charges me nothing. I give him a nice tip. Should have given him a hundred bucks. He saved the day, maybe even the week and definitely my sanity.

Its those small miracles that make life bearable, maybe even possible. Some call it karma, some call it fate. I have a different idea where that break came from. It was too well placed to be a matter of chance.

On the practical side, I've used this plumbing company before and they are not cheap. But I'll call them again next time and with 'this old house' it probably won't be long.

unfortunately you just described my whole life, even my own family calls me a born loser, if wasn't for bad luck i would have no luck at all.
