Has any one tried this stuff? I'm thinkin' I gonna try it as I've just spend two and half days replacing a lift piston oring that didn't help the lift problem. The tractor just doesn't lift fully when the oil is hot and works just fine when cold. I this stuff works it'll save the new UTF I just put in (Walmart UTF). The Wally World oil viscosity seems to go away when hot. The Lucas stuff says somthin' about giving oil Thermal Stability, whatever that is. The local parts house want $10 a qt. for it. $10 versus $35 for 2-1/2 gallons for a different brand of oil that I don't know is any better than the Walmart UTF. bjr

I doubt it will do anything. Have you checked the pressure on your system? To me it sounds like you have a bigger issue.

I've got pressure gauge mounted on the dash when I Open one of plugged off axillary ports I get 2200 psi. Again when cold the lift fully comes up, but when Hot is on raise maybe 2/3rd's of the travel. I'll do some testing one of these hot evenings and get back with the results. bjr

The stop leak additives typically stops a leak at a rubber seal by swelling it. These are low/no pressure seals. It likely will not work on a pressure seal, and you'll continue to have the same problem.

Like Chris said, check your pressures hot. If your pump is working fine, it may be the hydraulic packing.

Well I used the mower this weekend pretty hard and the lift function perfectly (raised all the way when hot). I won't say all the leaks went away, but, they did slow considerably. Say what you will about hydraulic oil additives, but in my case the Lucas did help a lot. bjr

We buy the Lucas Hydraulic oil booster and stop leak by the gallon for the backhoe because it makes a positive difference and it helps with grabbing brakes on the tractor. For UTF that needs changing it will beef up the Add package that can get worn out. I do not use any other Lucas products but the hydraulic oil booster is worth the price in our worn out equipment. :) One cylinder is welded so to replace the seals I will need to find a used cylinder for the hoe.

A little update:

A month later and the tractor still raises all the way up (in 100 deg. temps), the original goal. Since then I've purchased a five gallons of the Walmart Super Tech heavy duty UTF $45 and from another store bought some Power punch PA-200 Hydraulic oil additive $16.

I priced some Cenex Qwick-Lift hydraulic Oil from a Farm Supply Store and with our Washington state sales tax came out to $95 for five gallons. And from what I read about hydraulic oils is it's all about additives because most resellers buy the same base stock to make their product. Just sayin' that with my older machinery that I do the maintenance on Walmart oil with a little additive that I choose works for me. bjr
