Just used my Cub Cadet for the 1st time Yesterday, it seems really slow too me, was wondering if you can adjust something to make it faster? Thanks

mine is a LT1042 and seems to run fine...how slow is slow?how far down are you pressing accelerator to say it seems slow?any strange noises coming from tranny?

i have to admit i have been 2nd guessing buying this tractor since the 30th because i never spent so much on something to cut grass...i think im trying to find something wrong just so i can bring it back and not feel so guilty....but the LT1042 does cut and ride aswesome...and i'll be damned if i'm gonna go cut 1/2 acre with a pushmower....no thank you...lol...

for now im very happy with this tractor hope it stays that way for a long time

It seems slow compared to my old Yard Machine. The ride is very nice, I like how it cuts, to me it seems like it should go as fast or faster then my old 14.5 hp Yard Machine. I guess the question I was asking is there linkage on the forward or reverse that you can adjust? Maybe I just need to get used to this new one and forget about my old one. And maybe i'm like you, i'm second guessing this purchase.

just curious why you need to go so fast...you have the cruise and auto tranny...so you have infinite speed...i know for a fact my old murray and ford lawn tractor were much faster than my LT1042...its probably another 1 of those safety issue they wanted to deal with....
i was wondering...
hows do you like the dual deckwash setup and do you notice the 3 blades cutting any "cleaner" than the 2 blade of your old tractor?

why do I want to go fast ???? I guess I'm used to my old on. I bought my 1046 from Tractor supply and had to adjust my tire pressure and make sure every thing eles was right.(they told me about the tire pressure said the tires are over inflated for shipping. all eles was good) It cuts really good, it has a more even cut then my old Yard Machine. And I also think for the extra 700 over what my other mower cost, my Cub should out run it.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The newer Cubs definitely seem slower. I know that my 3235 won't go nearly as fast as my old 1450. I could run the 1450 flat out to the point that I felt like I was going to fly off the seat when turning sharp. With the two pedal Hydro control you can adjust the pedals to gain more forward speed with a loss of backward speed and vice versa. I have mine adjusted to the point where it crawls in reverse and I gained a little forward speed - still too slow however.

Don't know how fast you want to mow but cc manual on 1046 says top speed 5 mph, that seems pretty fast to me to do a good mowing job. speed wise maybe someone can figure out a way to hook up a speedometer to these or if you really like math figure out how many seconds it takes you to go 100 ft and convert to mph. sounds like to much of a math problem to me. There are 2 new 1042/1046's in my neighborhood this year besides mine and they are not having any problems, one appeares to run his flat out when mowing. The three blade does a better mowing job than my old 2 blade. I don't mow as fast as the neighbor and it looks better. I pulled an Agri-Fab areator/seeder combo unit with no problem with 50# fertilizer. It often appeares that people aren't reading the manual by some of the comments posted. Thats the first place to start. I have mowed 1 1/2 acres twice with a short slight >15 degree inclne in places with no problem. I would also encorage buying from a dealer rather than box store ie for service, parts, etc and they know more about what they sell.

I'm not having any problems with my mower just seems slow. As to should of bought from a dealer, well I went to the Cub dealer and the salesman was telling me how the 1045 is on sell and the price is $1699.99, so I asked him what the normal price is and he said $1999.99. I went to the local Tractor Supply and the salesman there was nice, and he took a 10% home depot coupon to use toward the purchase of my mower.

For rough math 1 mph is 1.5ft/s or for 100ft divide by seconds, then divide by 1.5.....if my math is right.... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

5mph?! Now I understand why the dealers claimed ZTRs as faster than the LTs when I knew that "was false"..... guess I was right about the "was"; they didn't speed up ZTRs they slowed down the tractors! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
