I purchased this mower this spring with 25 hours on a 3 year old cc. Its worked great all summer mowing the lawn. The other night I come home hop on the CC to mow and every things fine. I go to stop the mower and nothing, it just keeps running. I disconnected the wiring from the PTO switch and the mower wouldn't turn over or start. I think this oroves that the safety switches are working. Any ideas on what to look for ?

Thanks

The interlock for starting goes through the PTO switch so if the switch is on it will not crank so when you disconnected it you broke the circuit. Reconnect the switch and disconnect the plug at the PTO if it is still engaged with motor running the bearings have failed. Bearings are not replaceable so you need complete new PTO.

Bearings arent replaceable? Have pressed in and out several bearings on pto clucthes.

Most of the new PTO's I've seen have bearings that are staked in and or have non standard diameters(like metric od with inch id).

Siezed bearings on a 25hr machine? I suppose anything is possible. I'm Lucky I guess.. I've never seen the bearing go out in an electric PTO.

The bearings do sieze up sometimes but your right 25 hours seems like a short life. But if it was left out in the weather all it's life it's possible. I fixed one last week on a 10 year old John Deere LX188 that had to have had at least 500 hours on it. No hour meter but the guy mows 3 acres every week. The top bearing on it was frozen.
