Hey Guys, I hope you can help out with a strange issue.

I was mowing this morning and getting under some of the smaller trees we have here, I backed up and stopped and then tried to go forward...nothing. I then tried to go back...nothing. I shut her off and then waited and started her up again and still couldn't go either direction. I checked the belts and all of them appear to be on, I checked the transmission button on the back and it was pushed in, I pulled the button out and pushed it back in to verify that it was connected to the tranny and it appeared to function normally. I also checked the linkage from the pedals to the tranny and it appears connected (visually I can see it move and underneath where it connects into a black sleeve it appears to be working.

What should I try next?

I'm not sure on that tractor, but on some tractors the drive belt is hard to see because of its location. Make sure it has not slipped off one of the pulleys.

Another thing to check is the key ways that lock the rear hubs to the axle. If one of those keys break or work their way out of the hub, all motion stops.

It looks like the key for the axle cracked and broke apart, i replaced it ad now its working again. Thanks!

Spyke01,, glad that fixed your problem.. Keep in mind there is another forum here for JD lawn and garden. In the future you might want to remember that,,, maybe get faster replies on your 160.
