cub cadet lt1018
Hi everybody. I have a cub cadet lt1018. Im having a problem with the bagger system. The tube keeps blocking with grass clippings. I have tried different mowing speeds and heights of cutting. But it keeps plugging with clippings after moving 50 feet. Asked the dealer for high lift blades but i was told they dont make them for this model. I would greatly appreciate any ideas to fix my problem. The lawn just looks better bagging the clippings. I am almost to the point of getting rid of this tractor and buying one that i can get high lift blades for. Thank you

Has it always clogged or is this something new?

What size deck? I'm sure there's compatible blades available elsewhere once you know the size and hole pattern on the blade.

Thanks for the info. Its been an ongoing problem since i got the tractor. I talked to the original owner about it. But she only used the bagger in the fall to pick up leaves. But it does seem to work pretty good to do that job.

springtime grass new growth is particularly heavy with moisture - a problem for most bagger makes/models. Best bet is go slow, cut only 1/3 off grass blade height per pass, mow only when lawn is at it driest, make sure deck underside and chute inside are scraped clean of any sticking grass. Keep your engine RPM at full throttle, dump partially full bags often. Good luck

Might chk with Oregon Chain (Gator blades) to see if they offer a hi-lift blade for your deck....

You probably need to change blades. Get "high lift" blades. Lift is that vertical part of the non-cutting edge. It acts like a fan to blow the clippings. There are three common blade types with no lift, mid-lift and high lift. The lower the lift, the easier it is to cut (needs less hp). Mid lift is what is normally put on the machines. Higher lift will suck the grass up for a nicer cut, throw the clippings out farther but it takes more HP to spin and can bog in thick / wet grass. Mowers with baggers should always be equipped with high lift blades - but as they cost more... they often aren't. Plus, the lift part will wear rather quickly. It's also common for the high lift blades to be worn down to a mid-lift or less after a year or two.
