Below is a copy of the email I sent to LS Tractors. Has anyone else been affected by this practice?

I'm contacting you concerning a parts problem that I have with your company. I own an LS 3038H tractor, and need 2 front links for the 3 point hitch. In order to get these parts, I'm forced to buy 2 complete Stabilizer Assemblies, Part #40213520 and 40213521. These assemblies cost $60.00 each and consist of 7 parts each. I feel that you are taking advantage of your customers with this practice, and ask that you begin selling individual parts. I bought LS because of the price, and now seem to be getting nickel and dimed because of it. I would appreciate a response that I can share with other LS owners on Tractors by Net. Thank you for your time.

They are not the company that does this. It would be nice if they did sell that way but that is kind of the way goes. Most companies sell the transmission as one unit not parts.

I just received an email from Gary Oneal at LS stating that "Currently we only offer the assembly, but I will look into it and see if we would be able to get individual parts for this assy."

I'm not expecting much, but maybe they'll surprise me.

It sounds like you may have bent the stabilizers and now want to buy just half of the assembly, is that correct? The front half is typically what bends when they aren't adjusted properly, and/or when an implement hits something that puts a side load on the stabilizers.

I bent one stabilizer front half (R4047H) when my mower bounced off a stump. I bought a new assembly, but cut out the bent part, welded the halves back together, and never needed the spare assembly.

Regardless, very few companies make each individual part available for every machine they make because it's simply too costly to keep all of them available. Go to any auto/truck dealer and try to buy individual parts...not available. Tractors aren't any different now, and I doubt if any other brands would offer the individual parts. I know Case and NH don't offer those parts individually either because I got my replacement assembly as a CIH dealer.

I broke both front links. they are held on to the assembly by quick pins. they just want me to buy 7 parts instead of one. That includes 3 quick pins and a cotter pin. I'm welding the link, and a friend is going to machine a few for me. Mostly posted to vent, emailed the company on a whim, and am pressing on.

By the way, I was born in Detroit, and raised in Wyandotte.
