Hello all! This is my first post!

I am looking to buy a Subcompact tractor to help me take care of my wooded 5.6 acres in the next few days. The dealer will have an MT122 in stock. And I've been searching and asking all around if there is any considerable difference between the 122 and the 125. All the brochures and everything else says they both have the same lift capacity, hydraulic flow, and attachments. Its just that the 122 has 2 less hp on the overall and the pto.

If I order the 125, it will take a couple weeks to come in. The 122 is in stock. Will I regret not spending the extra cash and time not getting the 125? If I'm going to order something I might as well bump up to an XJ2025H at that point but thats a different conversation.

What I'm trying to say in my long winded post is what really is the difference between the 122 and the 125? Is the 125 really more capable than the 122?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The 125 will definitely be better if you are going to run a mower, wether it be the MMM or a 3 pt mower. That is where you will notice a difference.

If you are going to upgrade to the XJ2025... hold out for the NEW MT225-S. It is the replacement for the 2025. It has far more features and a 3 range transmission. It was just released, only a handful of dealers have them in stock, others are waiting for the first ones.

Do not confuse with the MT225E or HE.... that one is two sizes bigger than the 122 / 125.

Not sure where you are located, but “ wooded 5.6 acre lot “ would probably need the size up from the MT1 series. Do not get me wrong, my little 125 did the work of much larger machines, only slower. It put in a septic system, graded building site, graded driveway, etc... When I was able to afford it, I sold it after 2 years, 220 hours, for almost what I paid for it. But, I still upgraded to the 3025. Much more tractor.

For more accurate info, you should have your location in your profile. It could help others give you better answers. Is your land rocky? Flat? Hilly? Etc...
Also prices can vary immensely due to region. Here in NM, there is only 1 LS dealer in the state and does not even stock more than a few. Both of my LS tractors came from out of state, so did two of my neighbors LS tractors.

Do not hesitate to ask more questions... now is the time to ask... before you commit to buy.

I just updated that info! Sorry still new here. Most of my land is flat and i will be mowing maybe 4 acres max with it. Nothing extreme. Also maybe planting trees, running some water and electrical lines, grading the driveway, etc.

What does the price look like on the MT-225S?
My main motivation for going LS was it would come with all of the attachments I would want for under $250 a month. And I have to maneuver this bad boy around porches, my double wide, my shop, a big out of ground pool, and trees.

I'm about to start looking up specs on the MT-225s now

I know my neighbor paid $15,900 for tractor/ loader for the 225-S. If you get the BH, add $5200. MMM adds another $2800 for a 72 in. You could get a good rear finish mower or brush cutter for about half that.

I have another post here in the LS forum with some closeup pictures of the 225-S and a link to a side by side comparison to the XJ2025.

What dealer are you going with? There is a great dealer outside Austin, RCO tractor. They have the 225-S in stock. If you deal with them, ask for John, tell him Ted told you to call. That is where I bought my tractor, the neighbor did also.

I got my XG3025 (even bigger tractor) with BH, rear box blade, and PHD /auger for under $265/mo. He will make you a great deal and support you after the sale too!

Price point, the MT125 will be lower. I know that RCO has a used MT125 for about $10k with the loader, it only has around 50 hours.
