These little LS tractors sure look like a decent value (lots of options) but they are they built rugged enough?? Any other shortline brands out there. Mahindra look to be even a little smaller for my needs. I've heard good things on the Kubota's too less money then the JD's/CNH but still a decent machine.

Anyone have the 95hp LS ??

Might ask over on the LS forum. I've only got the 54hp u5030.

I have a 2010 model of the P7010 which I think is the same frame size you are looking out with larger HP output from the engine (I really haven't kept up with new models though and I think they may make a 7040 now). When I bought mine, they only had the 7010,7020 and 7030 models. They are heavily built and I would recommend them. Prices were much lower than any comparable tractor when I bought mine. I got the 70 HP for what a 50 hp in any other brand would have cost. I used mine pushing over trees and digging them up with the FEL, dug a pond with it first thing of the delivery truck. Engine is super powerful and will perform any task I do at 1500 rpm including mowing with a bush hog (I use the 750 RPM gear for the PTO). Lots of power and frugal on fuel usage. LS are very good tractors.

EDIT: Just looked up the 7040 and it has a larger displacement engine than mine but seems to have all the same bells and whistles and within 300# of the same weight and wheelbase is the same so I think it is the same frame size as mine. You would need to ballast it up with some wheel weights to utilize that extra 27 HP. I have mine ballasted with water and it helps but still get some spinning of wheels without stalling the engine even at only 1500 rpm in Med range 3rd gear

I have the 2012 88 hp 7030 CPS and have had zero problems so far. Going out on a limb here from your screen name, I assume you will be using it for hay. With 40 forward speeds and a 540/750/1000 pto, finding a good match between ground speed, fuel consumption and optimal implement usage is easy.

I went with the 7030 CPS because it had the power shuttle (as does the 7040) and the electronic hi/lo. It was $4000 less expensive than the 7040. Other than the larger front tires and 9 hp, there was no difference that I could see. There were different loaders between the 7010/7030 and the 7040 but capacities were the same.

Good luck in your search. Here's a couple of pictures when it was delivered last spring.

Yeah the 7040 is listed at only around 7200lbs for wieght so I'm not sure that would be heavy enough. I have to take a look them closer. I see McCormick has the x60 xx series with a wieght of 9200lbs, little bigger tires but I imagine more $$ too.
My current tractor is around that 9000 lb mark. What gives me grieve is when it's moving hay with this attachement. Tractor seems heavy enough but the loader is too light and could lift a foot higher. I've bent that lift cylinder once already lowering it too fast one time. A self leveling loader would be nice:) bale head.jpg
