Where can I get new lower link pins for my 8N?( the pins that are taper fitted into the center casting by the differential that the lift arms clip to) One of them snapped off today and I'm sol without it.

Ok parts available. Thanks.
I replaced an axle that snapped about 15 years ago, but I just had a general question about the pin (they call it a shaft) replacement.
The I n T manual seems to say just take off the wheel, then take off the trumpet without taking out the axle mechanism. Is that right?? I can't remember.
Then does the pin just tap out from the outside?
Thanks

yep, you cn take the trumpet and axle out as an assy.. it's heavy so have a cherry picker or tranny jack with cribbing ready.

the pin as you know is a taper fit from the outside and has a castelated nut on the inside of the trumpet.. remove cotter pin, remove nut, pin pushes out from the inside out.

now.. if it snapped flush.. this might get fun as the nut can be torqued to 150#, and may make the stub spin in the axle trumpet. if so, stand the trumpet up, and put a large nut over the stub and weld the center of the nut to the stud.. stay out of the cast trumpet.. then you got something to put a wrench on while you use an impact gun on the castle nut. which is what i'd do.. should break free easier than a straight pull with a breaker bar.. especially since your welded on nut may not have the best penetration for a straight pull from a breaker bar.. but should take a few whacks for the impact gun enough to break the castle nut free.

once removed check the socket the pin fits in..if it is mared or galled lightly clean with sand paper, and then clean with brake cleaner then use something like jb weld in there and set the new pin in and torque down.. this will keep it from weeping thru the metal to metal taper socket even if it is slightly worn.

thanks soundguy, those are superior instructions, I ordered the part from my local NHdealer in Derby Line, Vermont and it won't be in till Saturday. My son (34 yrs) was plowing snow--yes we are still getting a lot, and I think he hit a rock in the gravel drive. I haven't seen the break, so I don't know if broken flush, but I'll post results when repaired.
I already welded the lift arm that broke a month ago, and that held fine, but like the saying goes the weak link breaks...
thanks again
