I had a BX2200 delivered last week. The dealer checked all fluids and showed me how to attach/detach the mower and loader. He said the trans fluid was a little low and that he'd ship me a gallon of fluid. I specifically asked if it was okay to run. He said it was just a little low and it was okay to begin using it.

Today I added 2.5 quarts to the transmission to reach the full mark. I don't have the book handy, but I think full capacity is 2.6 or 2.7 gallons.

I put about five hours of mowing and loader work on the NEW tractor while the trans fluid was about 20-25% below full.
How much damage could this have done? Should I document this in writing to the dealer and Kubota? Just tell the dealer I want trans fluid and filter so I can do an immediate change?

My first tractor, plan on keeping it 20 years, and it starts with new gears and low fluid! What are the recommendations of the experienced tractor users? Is this BX tough enough to shrug off a hard beginning like this?

I'd be worried about what else they overlooked. The predelivery inspection is supposed to be a backup to what the factory did. Why wasn't this discovered before they brought it out /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I've found a few mistakes on my recent two Kubotas but none so gross as not checking the oil. How far down on the stick was it? On old gear tractors the fluid level mostly effected how well the hydraulics worked, on the new HST's I would think it would be more critical.

Rich S, that kind of mistake on the part of the dealer would be annoying, and of course, I'm not a tractor mechanic, but I think it's a pretty safe assumption that you have no problem; no damage.

I would think if it got hot enough to hurt anything the
fluid in the tractor would look a lot darker than the new fluid.
The percentage would be about equal to a car being only a quart low.
Good luck with the new tractor, try not to worry about it.

Since the tractors arrive crated, does anybody know if they are they are even shipped with fluids, or is that part of dealer prep?

They have to come with fluids. My M6800 came with a reddish oil in the front differential and a brownish oil in the front two gearboxes and rear differential and transmission. No dealer could be that creative. Kubota's manual says they come with Super UDT, but if it did, then they have two colors of it in Japan.
