Low sulfur diesel OK in D902

I understand we'll have 15ppm fuel next year (as opposed to 500ppm sulfur now). I don't see anything on Kubota's site about this, and a search here doesn't turn up anything obvious. Just wondering if the low sulfur fuel is ok in these old-style (mechanical injection) diesel engines like by BX2200's D902. Off road, when available, appears to stay 500ppm until 2010.

Close but no cigar. ULSD is available now and is mandated to be available everywhere by September 1. Off road that is LSD (500ppm) will be difficult to find because only very small refineries are allowed to make it (the big boys can only produce ULSD). This means that by say Jan 1 2007 it will be scarce and probably cost more. By the end of 2009 the small refineries will no longer be permitted to make it.

This change over has been discussed to death in the Oil and Lube forum and that is probably where this thread belongs too.

BTW, ULSD will work just fine in your Kubota.

You might consider using a reputable fuel additive with lubricity enhancers to the fuel. Many good products are available to add lubricity, anti-gel, cetane boost, etc. Take your pick.
