Low center of gravity tractor?

I have what I believe is a 1972 Ford Low center of gravity (LCG) tractor. Looking at it in comparison to a farm tractor the main difference is the front axle extensions or kingpin thingys. What ever you call them. If so I'd like to one day put on the taller extensions to give the oil pan more ground clearance. Are there other differences?

In the model ID.. the AG all purpose chassie was designated with a 10 and the LCG was designated with a 11

Depending on what tractor you have, your model ID will be a letter from B-E then a 2 digit chassie code.. then a 1 digit fuel code, then a 1 digit pto code then a 1-letter tranny code.

Example B1014C 1972 2000, diesel, ag chassie, independent 540 pto / 8spd tranny.

Post what ya got. ( will be by the SN ).. there will also be a production date code

example: 2A10C

The tractor is out at the property but here are some numbers I wrote in a shop manual for reference.

Number on engine
C7NN 6015 AH

Number on Transmission
C7NN 7006 AK

Bellhousing area
2Dl1B ? I am not sure about this number could be 2D?1B I clearly wrote a 1 but not sure about the "l" Also pretty sure its a D not an O or 0.

I was told ~10 yrs ago when I bought it it was an industrial tractor Low center of gravity tractor???

The exhaust is routed down and out the back not up through the hood like a farm tractor.

The front of the tractor is definately slightly down and it has short (height) axle extensions.

Just from memory the rear end looks similar in shape to a farm tractor but never had one side by side to compare height.

Original color? Quite a few industrial/commercial units were yellow.

Yep it has some yellow paint on it under the blue. The guy I bought it from was a tractor trader and he fixed it up repainted it. I did not know anybetter at the time and it looked like about the same height as a couple of 8N and 9N's he had. It has been a good tractor just kind of squat.

The 2d number number sounds like the date code.

So far.. 2 = 1972

D = April

the ?1 equals day of week.. ( for you to decide if it is 11.. or whatever.. )

C = C shift built the tractor.

Can't give you any more till I get the model ID number. which would have been right there with the date code, and the sn which is probably the 0335106 number.. . Since sn were used in the thousand series as needed.. then we can't tell what model from the sn. Once we get the model ID.. we can verify sn to date code to see if the year matches.

The final drive ratio is faster to account for the 24" rear rubber it probably has. Putting 28's on the rear will result in gearing that renders the tractor just about useless. No problem putting regular sized front "knees" and spindles on it.

I'll have to clean it up a bit and look for some more numbers and I'll get the rear tire size too. Probably won't get to reply until early next week on it though.

I'm going to guess you have an old highway mowing machine. Those sat low and wide, came with big wide turf tires, and usually were seen mowing the median of interstates and such with a big RFM or maybe towing a gang type reel mower rig.

For what its worth I had asked if it was a "highway right of way mower" and he said no. But I have no idea where he bought it from or history. It came with Ag tires that are old as dirt but lots of the highway tractors here have Ag tires. I probably would not have bought the tractor having learned a bit more but its been a good tractor and paid for itself many times over with hard work.

When you say wide do you mean really wide??? Tires and stance appear normal to a utility tractor. I'll post more info when I get a chance to go check on it.
