Hello, friends!

So, my "John Deere" lawn tractor (I guess it was actually an MTD???!!!) finally gave up the ghost on me as I was just starting to make good progress with my initial mowing of the season. The engine is still in great condition--- but it is doing me no good at all with a burned out transmission. Since the repair would cost over $900, and the result would be a tractor that is still overmatched for the amount of work I need it to do--- the only intelligent decision was to step up to a sub-compact tractor. I have about 10 acres to stay after, with lots of these gorgeous North Carolina mountain inclines to deal with. Rolled the Deere once because I could not get enough traction to get out of a sticky situation. Now I have a diesel engine and 4WD to get the job done--- plus a much larger mowing deck. Tiller is on it's way, too, and I have my mind set on a PTO generator at some point.

Why am I here? I have no clue as to the finer points of tractor ownership!!!! Some of it is intuitive, but I plan to read the forums to get me up to speed or at least point me in the right direction. Should be a fun hobby.

Hope you are all doing well! Looking forward to learning as I go.

Welcome Bill, yep, lots of good info here, or just ask questions if you have something specific.

Congratulations on your new tractor and welcome to TBN.

Lots of finer points you will learn as you use it and there are videoes on You Tube on FEL and MMM removal. JOHNTHOMAS has a thread on maintenance.

We put wheel spacers on ours even though they are incredibly sable as is and added skid plates and adjustable stabilizer bars from Stabilworks.
