Mowing Loud mower

My new B 2230's deck is very loud there is ahuge difference between that and my old lawn mower is it supposed to be like that.

Do you have a MMM or a rotary mower? What width is your new deck, and old?

My BX2200 60" deck is not any louder than my old garden tractor's deck was from what I can tell.

What kind of sound are you hearing?

Make sure the deck is properly lubricated and that the blades are sharp and in balance. If both are true, it should not be objectionably in volume.

My Landpride 48" RFM is very loud. Has been that way for the 10 years I have owned it. I usually wear hearing protectors when I mow because of the intensity and frequency. I can hear it over the tractor at full throttle. It is just over a 3:1 gear box so that the blades are turning about 1800 rpm with 3 16.5 inch blades.

Thats odd. My BX23 with a new 60 inch deck is whisper quiet...at least compared to my 60 inch ZTR that I replaced. I was suprised at how quiet it was....I thought there was something wrong with it until I saw the steady stream of grass clippings /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
