LOUD in the cab. Can you hear the radio??

One tractor with a cab, two that are open (three if you count the old garden tractor), zero radios. Don't want one, either. I prefer to keep my attention on the task at hand.
As far as I'm concerned, distracted driving is as dangerous in a tractor as it is in a road vehicle - under some conditions more so.
Agree 100%. JD 4020D no cab, Case 600M n/c, Kubota SVL 75-2 cab but run open except for protection fr. high dust, projectiles, bugs, Kubota L3400 n/c & certainly would want one on small tractor, CAT 311C cab but often run open. I'm 83 with very good hearing given I was raised on JD tractor from 1945 on & sitting on an Oliver 77D with 2 row mounted corn picker (Of course usually had ear flaps down for cold temp), certainly would be better had I used hearing protection back then. I do use headgear for chainsaws & the like. "I prefer to keep my attention on the task at hand."

Cabs can keep the noise in and reverberating so it is a constant roar. Wearing ear plugs then the headphones works some what.

I use the 3M yellow over-the-ear headphones almost all the time when running my (cab) tractor as well as when working outside chainsawing, brush mowing, weed eating, power washing, etc. They are very durable and have a built-in radio but most of the time I have my MP3 player plugged into them to play music. When radio and music are off, I can hear what the tractor is doing as well as conversations. But I tend to take them off when talking to someone. People laugh because I have my cowboy hat wired to my headphones and have to lift off the whole assembly to take the headphones off.

When I work in the headphones, they can get filled with sweat so I'm not sure they would be very usable in warmer climates (I'm at 9500' above sea level and it's always cool here). They are great in winter!

There are several "sound deadening adhesive sheets" available on Amazon and such.

I've used such material for a modest reduction in engine noise.

I recently tried the ISOTunes wireless Bluetooth hearing protection (25nrr) and returned them. I believe they were the "Free 2.0" model. In addition to not seeming to provide enough hearing protection, the music level could not be adjusted high enough to hear in a mildly noisy environment.
I'm back to my 3m Bluetooth headphones, but they cause some discomfort with my cool sunglasses.
