Well.. I guess the sustained 26' weather last night and high winds were just too much. I lost some pipeing in the back of my pasture. Mainly I lost 2 spighots, and the piping between them.. probably 35' and a couple risers in all.. plus the valves on those risers popped. Water run to the barn and pasture trough must have been burried just a tad deeper.
I took off work at 3pm today and went home with a bag full of unions, t's and elbows, and other assorted fittings, and a new can of pipe dope. Got out my trusty ratcheting pipe cutter a grub hoe and shovel and headed out to the back of the pasture. Took me from 3:30 to7pm to get the lines uncovered in the broke area, and new ones in, new risers and valves, and then insulate them. Pressure tested fine. I ran out of time an light and turned the water back off to the pasture after all the auto waterer's filled up, and tyhen drained the lines as we are sopposed to get just as cold again tonight.. and I don't have the line covered back up.. it's just setting naked inthe trench. I think I will also use the fel to add a small mound of dirt on top of the burried line down the fence line to try to keep it from popping again.
What a day. my backs killing me.. I had to feed the animals via tractor lamps.. My trust 33hp 6v flashlight ( ford 660 ) was quite up to the job.
