LS J2030H
Hey Guys,
My LS J2030H tractor has lost all hydraulic pressure, meaning there is no HST or implement operation though the engine runs very well.
I have checked implement control Joy stick and am recieving 0 psi.
Discharge from the hydraulic pump is also 0 psi.
There is no 3 point movement.
There is no PTO movement.

I have cycled the pressure controller (relief value). Therefore dont think that it is stuck or not working properly.

I understand that it appears that thehydraulic pump has quit working and know that such things do occur, yet it is realitively rare, in my opinion. A failed pump should still be pumping/moving oil. I am getting no hydraulic oil movemment.

I am also curious as to nothing seems to be triggering the pump to come on (it is not an electric motor/pump) but remember hearing the solenoids click as the spools openned/closed in the past.
There is an eletric hydraulic solenoid spool valve st the upper driver's side in the rear of the transmission by the 3 point power arm, possibly the return line of steering system. I have not been able to energize the solinoid.
Finally, the steeringwheel (system) seems to have endless rotation, though the wheels, themselves, nor the shaft that runs from the front axle do not turn. ( i can easily turn the shaft by hand).

I will shortly pull the hydraulic pumps suction line to check for any blockages, etc.. I have heard that some have additional screens in the sump suction.

It may well be the pump or the HST pump but has not been proven as of yet.

Any advice, ideas, and or experience in this muddy water is appreciated.

Have you checked the hydraulic oil level?

According to the parts manual, the output shaft from the engine goes to the hydrostatic pump on the front of the gear case. A internal shaft also transmits rotational force to the hydraulic pump mounted to the gear case (the gear case is also the sump).

Oil level is the first thing I'd check and check the condition of the oil (no metal particles indicating more serious problems.)

The fact that you have no motion of the hydrostatic drive and no hydraulics for the 3 point, steering or PTO, means you could have a broken transmission/hydrostatic input shaft or coupling.

The only solenoid that I saw in the parts list was the solenoid that starts and stops the PTO shaft. The solenoid moves a spool that applies hydraulic oil pressure to the PTO clutch.

What were you doing when the failure occured?

Don't LS tractors have Ujoints or some sort of joints in the driveshaft between the engine and the HST box? Busted the outlet driveshaft Ujoint on the JD 4010 at 9 years and 660 hours. No hydraulics at all, of course.

Yes. the oil level is good. In fact at the moment it is high. I may drain some out to the full level.

Hey thanks.
Yes, the LS J2030H tractor has a shaft from the engine straight into the HST (pump). Visually it is turning and physically it seems solid with at most an 1/8" of jiggle slip so I am guessing it is OK.
It also has another shaft that goes from just under the hydraulic pump to the front axle. (why? i dont know since the hydraulic pump has an inlet and outlet piping for the steering.).

Thanks a ton JD.
I will have to go back and look at the Parts break down that I have, which is all independent exploded view. The LS J2030H has 2 shafts one running directly into the HST pump or motor and another one that runs from directly under the hydraulic pump to the front axle.
The solenoid does not appear to operate the PTO but has a steel line coming directly from (under the dash) what I thought was the steering system pump/diverter. I have been assuming that it is the hydraulic return line of the hydraulic steering system. I will have to check all of this out again.

current status is still 0 psi hydraulic pressure anywhere within the tractor. I am also failing to see what drives the hydraulic pump for the power shaft with U-joints go straight from the engine to the HST pump/motor.

oops sorry.
I had just finished moving a pop-up camper. I had turn the tractor off. then went back re-started the tractor and was going to put it away. It went maybe 3 feet and I heard/felt like a drag or rough grind. I thought it was the easy 3 point hitch hook-up dragging on the ground but when I went to raise the 3 point. It did not raise. I then attempted to back up to ensure that the 3 point with Easy hitch wasn't somehow jammed but the tractor itself didn't move. Undoubtedly the dragging i felt/sort-of heard is the main symptom beside the lost of all Hydraulic and HST function. The 3 point easy hitch was not physically or mechanically jammed.
