This has happened a few times to me since spring, My B2910hsd will just start to loose power and I have to baby it to get it to a safe place. The first time it happened, I lifted the hood and the entire battery compartment was stuffed with feathers forming a huge nest. I figured it was shorting out the battery. A few weeks later, the same issue happened and I pulled the fuel filter and it was pretty dirty. I swapped in a clean one and was on my way. Today it happened again. While it was bogging down, I leaned over and looked at the fuel filter and it was half empty. I shut down the tractor and it filled back up. I pulled the filter and it was clean. I got going again and it bogged down again and the filter was half full.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to solve this issue? Thanks.

You probably have an obstruction either in the tank or the line from the tank to the filter, does the line from the tank go to the fuel pump and the pump pushes the fuel through the filter or does it go through the filter and then the pump?

Make sure that the fuel filler cap’s vent is clear. One way to tell is to take the cap off when it bogs down and see what happens

I’d pull the rubber hose to filter inlet and let the entire contents drain in a clean container while monitoring flow and junk in the fuel. I think you're going to be surprised at what you find.

Good luck.

I haven't traced the fuel line to the tank yet. I will look tomorrow.

I did unscrew the cap and it made no difference. I can't figure how air could get into the filter housing.

MOSHIP, I will try that tomorrow. THe tractor has 1600 hours on it and is about 17 years old. This is the first issue I have had with the engine. I guess I am going to learn about the fuel delivery system :)

If you have a restriction in the tank or the line from the tank it will suck air in through a tiny hole in the line that doesn't leak fuel or a clamp..

Thanks. I'll pull it apart tomorrow and let you know what I find.

If fuel flow is restricted from tank to inj pump then inj pump will pump fuel faster than fuel is being supplied causing a vacuum in bowl. I once owned a M4900 that acted similar to your tractor. I found a small screen that was clogged located in fuel shut off valve in water separater housing. After cleaning small screen no more fuel problems.YMMV
