Looking to measure rpm on a kubota d1105

Hello,
saw old threads on this, most of the links are no longer good. I have a Kubota d1105 3 cyl in an Allmand Brothers tlb 425. I need a simple cost effective way to measure the rpms which sound high. As part of getting it runNing, I had to remove the throttle and free it up. I think I put the stops back correctly, but want to verify.

im looking for a solution which could be a permanent one if available, but since it doesn’t have spark plugs, and is a simple design, I’m at a loss. I don’t think I have have any places where I could put the reflective tape and use that method. Thanks for any replies,

The reflective tape and laser meter should work. Why can't you put a piece of tape on the crankshaft pulley ? A photo would sure help with understanding and potential solutions.

Ok I’ll get one in a while I figured I can’t get to the front to hold the meter to see the tape. I’ll look into it and report back with photos thanks

With a bit of "fiddling and playing around", a phone with a vibration frequency application can be used.
I've got an optical tach, and a Starrett mechanical revolution counter that is used with a timer. But what I have doesn't help you... sorry.

OH! Those phone vibration apps can be free to install. I've used them on machine tools.. just lay the phone on the machine, and apply good sense to the displayed information..

I used the tape and laser meter on my 535tlb works fine think I paid $10 put the tape on the crank pully 4 yrs later its still there

Ok so I just need to put the tape on the side in the picture, and then measure from the side? I thought I would not have room to put the tape and still measure without being too close to the fan. The drivers side is to crowded, but here looks ok. How far away can the meter be, and does anyone recommend a cheap one that is somewhat accurate?

did you buy your allmand in Europe also? Le allmande~

Bought mine on ebay 4 yrs ago. It best viewed for me on the drivers side. I havent used it in a while. No real need. I justvwanted to know the highest rpm it would go and it was 3k just like the manual said so it was accurate enough for me. There are alternator based tachs also. The pickup is mounted on the alternator. Bought my allmand in NY
